Having had it pointed out that the spare bit of lino in our bathroom would make the ideal mat for under Boomers highchair (thanks Aitch!). Ive been using this square of lino for a couple of weeks now.
Its great , the bits that Boomer has finished with pretty much land on the square. So once breakfast/lunch/snack etc is finished I just shake the lumps of banana or whatever into the bin and give the lino a quick skoosh with the anti-bacterial stuff and a wipe down.

call me crazy but why put a mat under which has to be washed? Just use old newspaper and bin it. free yourself from mat cleaning drudgery.
When someone said this to me when my small was 1year old it took me five minutes to speak as I recalled hours of floor and mat washing.

I use a mat because when The Weeble hurls banana/carrot/potato/chocolate (just kidding about that last one) onto the floor, I can pick it up and hand it back to him. I don't think I'd want to do that with old newspapers.
Of course, he is now a dab hand at throwing past the edges of the mat…
