What have you already got/read?
Small one is always going to be tricky as you'll presumably already have loads of board books. Hamster liked (still likes in fact) the ladybird "this little" books, and anything with pictures of babies in. In slightly less common board books we all loved How to hide a lion, goes nicely with Tiger who came to tea! (could also be a recommendation in non-board book form for the older one). In early non-board books, we like the Julia Donaldson/Nick Sharratt collaborations, chocolate mousse for greedy goose et al. Very simple rhyming books.
Big one, have you done Winnie the Witch books? Lots of Julia Donaldson, which you probably have. Hairy Maclary and gang. Dr Seuss. Charlie & Lola (the ones actually by Lauren Child are better to my mind). Elmer the Elephant. You Choose by Nick Sharratt has been very popular with both our two.
