is my toddler eating enough?

Oh, we're done with all that vegetable-steaming and mess, our children are cutlery-wielding, spaghetti-chomping angels... at least some of the time.

is my toddler eating enough?

Postby elenab » 21 Jul 2012, 23:04

just had our health review and the woman was quite misinformed about feeding babies (all their nutrients should come from solids by the end of first year, according to her, etc), but inevitbly, though my daughter is in the 50th centile in height and weight i got worried that she isn't getting enough food and micronutrients. she still breastfeeds on demand and demands it a lot, eats with us, but my eating has a bit to be desired, hence the worry.

for example she would have a bit of fruit, or yougurt, or bran flakes (just chewing them, without milk) for breakfast, but she might not have anything. lunch is a bit of whatever i am having a sandwich, a salad, pasta, pizza.

she eats meat everyday, likes cheese, there is nothing she won't eat, though quantities might be small.

how are your guys doing and do you give multivitamis? thanks in advance

Sounds like you're doing great! We don't do vitamins, but you can if you want to, of course.
Breast milk has everything she needs (that woman was nuts). If she's happy and growing and meeting milestones, everything is fine.

thanks sara, i felt so angry and outraged, and just the thought that she is giving this "advice" to a lot of people, and i was also disturbed, though i knew she was wrong, i pushed a lot of diary in front of her, and she got constipated and so on. just searching for something to worry us, right?

Agree with Sara.

We do vit a, c and d in drops from Hv. I didn't necessarily think he needed a and c but wanted vit d and couldn't find drops with just vit d. There's been some threads on here previously on vitamins so try a search for more views etc.

No she doesn't need any vitamins because as she is eating all sort of food whatever may be the quantity but she will get all proteins from those. As she is a child so quantity should be small and she is doing same. There is nothing to worry about it. Your daughter will have a healthy life.
