Oh, we're done with all that vegetable-steaming and mess, our children are cutlery-wielding, spaghetti-chomping angels... at least some of the time.

I just wondered when and how your baby started to use cutlery? My daughter eats from a loaded spoon and hands the spoon back to be filled up. Not sure how to get her to load it herself of when to introduce a fork? Thanks :-)

How old is she? Babies start getting the concept of loading a spoon/fork when they start understanding inside/outside and putting things into a box/taking them out again. Usually around 13m? I also found myself reciting 'dip and lick' a lot to teach them dipping the spoon and licking it off (I.e.yoghurt or similar).

My DD was 12 months - she just went for my fork one lunch-time! So I gave her her own and continue to do so - she is still learning how to manipulate it, but she is getting better and better with it. The same with a spoon - she is at the point where she is realising that she needs to keep the spoon level!
