How many slings do you actually need?

I have an Inka too. Love love love it!

I'm getting shorty-curious. I only have 5s and 6s. Do I need (there's that word again!

) a 2 or 3?

A bit ot but I don't get the numbers

I'm a novice who is still in love with SSCs... My woven is 4.6m is all I know...

That's a 6, which is pretty much a standard 'do whatever carry you like' length for most people. 7s are longer, usually around 5.2m, roughly. The other numbers are shorter.

I can't do anything other than FWCC & even then I struggle! Using you tube isn't so good for me I need someone to help hands on. Hopefully someone will help me at sling show!!

Yes

I took a 2 out with me today, along with some sling rings to make a no sew ring sling. Elsie fell asleep in the car, I managed to get her into the wrap and all the way around the supermarket before she woke up

It was nice to be all snuggly with my sleepy girl, very different to my usual back carries.

I'm thinking of selling my inka...maybe...if you want it Skip? Though I'd probably need to replace it with another heavy woven for those times when I don't want to risk getting Sten dirty!...decisions decisions!

I only have 4... plus borrowed stretchies for when they were small (ish!) I've just given away most of my baby stuff (next lot to go in next car trip to see them!) and have decided I still need all 4

OSBH blue ringsling - first one I was given, brilliant for up&down walkers
Hand made MT - this is the one I'd get rid of if I had to, but when we go hiking, its good to have this option with J
Didy wool blend 7 - this is "J's" sling - he prefers this one, and usually on my front, good for using with B in emergencies!
Wrap tai (girasol conversion) - this is "B's" sling (though I use it for J for back carries when B is on his bike, my current favourite)

If I only had to have 1, it would be an impossible decision between the conversion & the wrap - if I'm carrying both, I use these two, both work with either child - Matthew would never use the wrap, but will happily use the others

I have three right now - moby, beco and a ringsling, but because of this thread I decided I needed a hippychick hipseat and went and ordered one on amazon japan!!!

I need a woven wrap though...

The hippychick hipseat is good. I used it quite a lot last year, before I was pregnant. It saved my back and hips!

You only need a wrap. The trouble is there is so much choice and they all have their own strengths. once you have one its hard to part with.
I have:
A thin wrap (6 - blue) - summer ruck/fwcc
A thick wrap (6 - orange) - winter ruck/fwcc
A medium wrap (6 - green) - anytime ruck
A thick Long wrap (7 - blue) - baby or toddler Double hammock for longer carries
A thinner long wrap (7 -dark blue) - baby double hammock for longer carries
A short wrap (4 - blue) - rebozo hip/front,
A ringsling (blue) - Quick carries, front or hip
These uses are not exclusive ie I can use the thin long wrap for my toddler in a ruck in winter or summer. These uses just justify keeping them all!
I would have liked to try stretchy, mei tai or ssc but really have no need with these wraps

I've remembered that I have a hippychick hipseat as well. Bought it last summer, thinking it would be good for when she wants to walk but there's a 6-lane highway to cross on the way. T absolutely refused to sit on it, so it's never been used and is gathering dust in the loft at Mum's.

For the record, 2 is too old to introduce a totally different kind of carrier - at least not that one.
