Salisbury meet?

Some of us get together from time to time in order to talk about the latest issue of Heat magazine, global politics, important developments in lipstick manufacture and, er, Baby-Led Weaning.

Salisbury meet?

Postby ToothFairy » 08 Feb 2014, 18:16

The lovely TGD and the rest of Team Awesome have just been here for the afternoon. We were saying how we don't meet up enough, and decided that Salisbury is a good midway point. Anyone fancy it? Pics? SparklePetal?

TGD will be along soon with dates which suit her, we were wondering about a weekend get together.

Weekend would suit me. Somewhere public transportable would also be helpful!

Well there would be no way I could make excuses to get out of that one!!

I would offer my humble home as a venue but a) not very central for public transport and b) the builders in the field opposite have rather messed up my road and plan to mess it up more at some unknown future date (although their vans wouldn't stop people parking at the weekend). If these problems can be got around I am amenable to the general idea - have quite a lot of space for rampaging small people, and DH can always run away to MIL for the occasion :D

I have to say I am not very good at thinking of venues actually in Salisbury - being averse to spending money to get in places or eat at places when my house is close at hand :D Maybe Pics can make more helpful suggestions? Probably a bit dependent on time of day/weather/ages of participating LOs etc as to what we'd all require.

What kind of place is good to meet at then? I take it you mean train for public transport? It goes quite central that way.

Cross posted..... Same issue about home not being accessible by public transport except on a few very limited bus routes! But depends where you are coming from. There are a few places I could look into in town but a weekend will be busier of course.

Thinking that anywhere we'd have to pay for food would likely be heaving at the weekend, so we'd probably need to book table(s)? Park picnics a little chilly at this season!

There is a park and ride bus to my house (well, my housing estate!) on Saturdays from the town centre but not on Sundays. It's a long walk from the railway station to the bus stop though. Not much outdoorsy here if it's fine, except for my garden.

I can use the car club if it's easier - I've just never driven alone with Courgette before.

Sorry Marron, I don't think I know where you are. How long a drive would it be for you?

I'm in Bath.

TF - have you got space in your car? I was wondering if I could pick you up (less of a detour?) but I'm not sure we'd all fit in an Auris. I could get the bus to Corsham, anyhow.

ETA: Or another option is to get a taxi from Salisbury station. So, pick somewhere nice and I'll get myself there (possibly with TF's help!).
