Friday 26th September - LONDON MEET

Some of us get together from time to time in order to talk about the latest issue of Heat magazine, global politics, important developments in lipstick manufacture and, er, Baby-Led Weaning.

Hi Girls,

Looks like weather shold be ok. Shall we meet outside the cafe? on Birdcage Walk side? It was lovely there last week when I was up in town.

Does midday sound reasonable?

Great to see some new names and faces. I'll try and bring a BLW sign so people know who we are!

I'll be there too. I'm sure we'll suss out who the BLW's are...I seem to have become much more chilled out over this kind of thing (no inhibitions after giving birth?) Let's face it, the worst that can happen is that you'll introduce yourself to a complete stranger with a small child who'll be nothing to do with BLW and have no idea what you're talking about and go home thinking you're a nutter. But you'll never see her again so who cares...?

Never been to St James' park but fingers crossed I'll find you all...

St James' Park runs along side the Mall on the way down to Queeny's pad ( ).

As you look at buck pal from traf square end. St. James Park is on your left. And the cafe is near a big lake (which actully covers alot of the park) near the traf square end of the park.

See you all tomorrow. It looks like a brill day. Bring your cameras!

Re: Friday 26th September - LONDON MEET Where WERE YOU?

Postby LemonJuice » 26 Sep 2008, 15:49

I feel a bit despondant. I drudged up on the train from Kent this morning and hung around outside the restaurant in St James Park with my BLW MUMS label in my grey maclaren buggy and I didn't get to meet anyone?

Did anyone manage to meet somewhere? I sat on my own until Little Em's daddy joined us for 20 minutes in his lunch break. Then we went home again.

60 odd mile is a long way :(

Laura
I didn't see the post later last night saying that the cafe is near the lake near the traf square end. I read your earlier post of 'Shall we meet outside the cafe? on Birdcage Walk side' and assumed that you meant the little outdoor cafe on the birdcage walk side of the park, next to the playground. Re-reading your post and having been to the park I can now see what you meant but that's not how I read it originally. Kate interpreted the same way as we ended up meeting each other by the other cafe and being a bit bemused by the lack of other folks there.
I'm so sorry we didn't get to meet you and you had travelled such a long way! I feel really bad - aarghh, should have looked at this site again before I set off this morning.

I need to send apologies. Was planning to come but the day ran away with me. Crap time management, and I was cross with myself! Next time, I'm definitely up for it. And minimac has his new rainsuit ready for autumn park appointments.
Maybe Vauxhall zoo for the next meet, which we missed out on last time...?

Hi Laura

I'm so sorry too that we didn't get to meet... I thought I was the only one who turned up for a while but then Flossie's Mum introduced herself (having spotted me as a potential BLWer, as I was searching the cafe area with a 6 month old in a sling....) We then thought you might have had difficulties coming in from Kent or something. Sorry, we should have known you were there somewhere. I only looked on the birdcage walk side of the lake, but I think the meeting place was the "Inn the park" restaurant over the otherside??

We'll do better next time - let's do another one soon.
