Wednesday 8th August Readingish

Some of us get together from time to time in order to talk about the latest issue of Heat magazine, global politics, important developments in lipstick manufacture and, er, Baby-Led Weaning.

*Sobs* Am working and already have Tue off, and both children have (paid for) plans for Wednesdays until the 22nd.
So somehow it happened, my weaners are at school,
I'm still here though and people I'll try to fool,
with tales of advice giving and of wanting to know
But really here's the only place I ever want to go.

No migraines planned. :-P the kids will be building towers out of raw spaghetti and marshmallows on the 8th. Can't argue with that. :-)

We'll be coming by car. What's parking like for the park/museum? Thatcham would be fine too. Weather showing light rain showers at the moment, but that'll probably change.

The museum is right in the middle of town, so there are town centre car parks which can be used. If we go for that I can post links to maps etc. The park by the river has parking nearby, although it is close to the station so can be quite full, but I've always been able to find space. All are pay and display.

How the hell did it happen that 8 August is only next week??!

Train or car is easy for us but car is less effort and means Pumpkin will nap en route (hopefully).

So just a venue and the best car park is all we need to know. And what time. Looking forward to it! :D

Ok, so museum then? The weather is looking better, but not brilliant, so this seems the best option, we can have a pootle around the museum and then burn off some energy in the gardens. There is a 'make and take' of Olympic medals which we can either do or not depending if we are in the mood (50p and they book 'slots' throughout the day).

This is the museum:

http://www.readingmuseum.org.uk/

There is a location map there (although google maps are better for working out how to walk there from car parks), also some car park locations:

http://www.readingmuseum.org.uk/findus-map/

The best car park is probably going to vary depending on which direction you are coming from. The museum is very central so any car park is a fairly easy walk. If coming from the M4 the Oracle would probably be easiest to access, you'd just then need to walk 5-10 mins.

Happy to help anyone with specific directions from different access points.

Also, who is definitely in?

S_N ?? Are you coming?

What time suits? I can get there whenever. And bring picnic?

Ok so now I'm having second thoughts about venue.

Is everyone coming by car? If so, I wonder if the wetland centre in Thatcham would be better. We've been there this morning and it reminded me that it is great, play parks, ducks to feed, lake to stroll around, centre itself with coffee shop, loos, a few exhibits. It would be a lot easier to drive to than everyone finding somewhere to park in central reading. My only concern is the weather, there is some shelter in the centre building, but nowhere to picnic inside.

What do you all think?

personally, we would speeds reading, as we are the other side of reading from thatcham so it makes for a much longer journey, and i dont like how unpredictable the weather is being at the moment! But if everyone else would rather go there then fine! :-) Pumpkin naps at lunchtime so either side of the middle of the day works for us really
