Dry skin on legs

For the label-readers amongst us, a place to marvel at food manufacturers' ability to add milk powder to everything.

Dry skin on legs

Postby Rosieandolive » 14 Jun 2016, 00:01

Hello! My 8month old has dry red patches of skin in her legs- it seems to be mostly located where food falls down and comes into contact with her skin. Has anyone else experienced this? I put coconut oil on it which seems to help. Could it be eczema or just sensitive skin? It's nowhere else on her body.

I haven't experienced this, no. Have you noticed if it's certain types of foods that cause it? Does she get food anywhere else on her body, but no rash?

If it were contact with the food I'd expect you to be seeing a rash on her face around her mouth too. Have you noticed that at all?

Otherwise it could be something unrelated, such as your laundry soap, of just one of those baby mysteries.

Does it seem to bother her?

I thought that maybe it could be from the food because food collects around her legs in the highchair and so has longer contact with her skin than say her hands or face.
I'm starting to wonder if it's something else. She had a fungal nappy rash that we've just got on top of, and I'm wondering if it's spread down her legs. I'm wondering if I should take her to the docs.

This might be a fungal infection, better have a dermatologist check that asap.
