Could my baby really be allergic to sweet potatoes?

Just BLWed my baby for the first time yesterday on her six month birthday. She seemed happy to eat the sweet potatoes, which were just roasted with a bit of olive oil and cinnamon...but today woke up wheezing (and I heard her wheezing last night while she was sleeping too). How do you know if it's an allergy? Her older brother has a little cold, and I heard her sneeze a few times yesterday even before I gave her the food. She's not struggling to breathe or anything, and she's eating and peeing fine, so I'm not going to bring her to the doctor right now. Do I hold off on food until she gets better? Hold off on sweet potatoes entirely and try a different food after she gets better? Or try sweet potatoes again to see if it was a fluke?

Figured I'd ask on this forum, for mommies who have been there...

Hello!

A friend of mine reacts to cinnamon. I would avoid giving her either sweet potato or cinnamon for a month or so. Only reintroduce them when she's had a long period with no wheezing. Obviously reintroduce them separately so you can tell if one causes a reaction. Go ahead and offer other foods - you may want to wait a few days so that whatever caused the wheezing is out of her system.

Good luck!

Hope she's over it soon. Glad it wasn't a reaction to her food!
