I feel like chicken tonight...

I feel like chicken tonight...

Hi, can I please ask you how you first presented chicken to your baby? I don't think my gummy bear will be able to chew strips so I was forced to blend it with some veg which i wasn't keen on doing.
Thank you.

You'll be amazed at what they can chew, even without teeth! Those little gums are very hard and great at doing the job. At an early age, mine had chicken, pork, steak... all attacked with enthusiasm and success! :D

Did you just give them a strip of meat to hold? I do worry a lot about him biting off too much and choking but I guess that's normal

We started with drumsticks, they love meat on a bone. They've even eaten the hard grissle chunk at the end <bleurgh> so keep an eye out in case they start ripping it off.

We did strips of roasted chicken thigh. She loved chewing on them even with no teeth. Drumsticks were a hit too, although they were easier once she had a tooth.

Drumsticks are great, they look like little cavemen hoeing in!

My 3yo only just started eating large pieces of meat - he wouldn't even touch strips or drumsticks as a baby. But I've incorporated minced chicken into various pasta sauces over the years, as well as making stews with smallish pieces, so you could always try that if you're not yet comfortable with strips.

My almost 3 year old has only just started eating meat too and even then it's hit and miss, whereas her little sisters been no king on steak since she was six months. Actually, I say SM didn't eat meat but she ate sausages and mince and that was it for ages. She still doesn't do roast meals but will eat chicken if it's in sauce and beef if it's strips in stroganoff sauce and of course, chicken nuggets lol.
