My nearly one year old has done well with blw, she loves finger food and tries most things but as soon as we put mixed dishes like shepherds pie, spag bol and rissotto in front of her she isnt interested at all. Now im back at work I wanted to prepare meals and freeze them for her but because she is fussy with these types of foods it makes it quite difficult. Does anyone have any suggestions? X x

Hello :)

How about giving her bread and butter strips or breadsticks to dip in the spag bol etc? That way she'll get used to the taste and will get some goodness from the sauces. Then she might start eating the actual dish if she discovers she likes the flavour.

Do you do loaded spoons or just put the mixed dishes on her tray? Maybe she doesn't want to get her hands messy?

I know you can make risotto balls, which are more like finger food , but using the same ingredients.

Or how about making mixed dishes that have finger food friendly elements that you can pick out for her? I'm thinking meatballs in sauce or fingers of cooked vegs in curry.

My 1 year old loves dipping, so you could present the 'holdable' elements and put the sauce/wet part in a little dish for her to dip.

Is that any help? I should be working, but seem to be skiving!

My puppy doesn't like getting his hands too messy with saucy things either. But if I put a loaded spoon in front of him, either on the table or holding it out, he'll eat it (usually).
