16m and will only eat meat!

Oh, we're done with all that vegetable-steaming and mess, our children are cutlery-wielding, spaghetti-chomping angels... at least some of the time.

16m and will only eat meat!

A will only eat meat. It's getting ridiculous. Yesterday we ordered him some meatballs in a restaurant. I knew the pasta would be on the floor (although he did eat some of F's and will eat if I serve pesto pasta and he likes jacket potato) and pizza he eats the topping and discards the rest. Kids menus here are low on protein. Whatever we eat at home he goes for the protein.

I'm stuck for lunches. We mostly have sandwiches as they are easy and portable. He just eats the meat out the middle.

I am little worried about salt but won't stress about it. He eats some veg and fruit, of course.

Suggestions please. High protien portable lunches? Low carb dinners?

How long has it been going on for? Is it a growth spurt, just needing lots and lots of protein at the moment?

DD went through an "Atkins" phase a while ago that lasted for quite a long time. I had some advice on here. It seems pretty normal!!

Just keep offering and I'm sure sooner or later he will come to love all things carb (and then you'll be back on here because he's only eat pasta!!!!).

He's probably just wanting to put on muscle!

Cold meat rolls (roll up some guacamole, hummus, soft cheese or other spread in a slice of ham or cold roast meat)
Boiled eggs, Scotch eggs
'Sandwiches' using red pepper halves instead of bread
'Wraps' using lettuce instead of tortillas (also good for burgers)

Roast meat
Giant stuffed mushrooms
Beef bourguignon
Coq au vin
Liver and bacon
Thai beef salad

Don't worry about salt unless he's living on a diet of cured meat. If you do a roast at the weekend and then use the cold roast meat for sandwiches/salads during the week you can make that low salt.

Perhaps we should get together because Noah refuses to eat meat! We could save a fortune on wasted food. :D.
