Foods for gaining weight

Roo is looking very skinny these days and I feel he could do with a little extra weight (his shoulder blades jut out especially scarily!)

What can I give him that's packed with cals other than pesto, cheese, creme frieche (sp?) and peanut butter? He won't eat avocado or drink cows milk (I swear I put this on every post!)

Even though he's now 17 months I think he was getting a fair few calories from breastmilk as he still nursed a couple of times a day. He's now cut these out without really replacing them with food - hence the waif look now!

Add butter and cream to EVERYTHING???
-Make fish pies with really creamy, cheesy sauces and buttery mashed potatoes with a glug of double cream
-pasta bakes with creamy, cheesy sauce with extra cheese on the top
-Give him fresh fruit with clotted cream for dipping in :o
-full fat Greek yoghurt with fruit
-olives
-I'm sure you've already tried giving him cows milk at different temperatures with or without a hint of nutmeg/cinnamon - but if not, you could give it a go?
-If he's dropped all his BFs, how would you feel expressing and offering him breast milk in a cup/ in sauces/on cereal etc (I know I hate expressing too!!!!)

Apart from the breast milk suggestion, I've made myself very hungry!

The dietican advised us the try to increase the protein in J's diet as well the fat. Things like adding red lentils to soup/bolognese/chilli etc can help with this. Also nut butters, meat or fish pastes on sandwiches are worth a try. It depends what he likes I suppose.

Lots of high calorie snacks, get him to eat little and often. Lots of dairy, melt some butter into any serving of food for him, milkshakes (those ones that are designed as meal replacements are great as meal additions to up the calories).

Savoury flapjacks (from My Daddy Cooks book) - they include LOTS of unsalted butter, cheese & oats. I didn't expect E to like them but she devours them and they stay together really well. Drop scones? Would he eat guacamole if it's hidden in a quesedillas for instance? You can put anything between two tortillas, add LOTS of cheese & then gentle heat in a frying pan/microwave & cut into 8 - YUMMY!
E's lost weight & I've been searching the forums for lots of good weight-gaining foods. It foes against everything I know as I'm always on a diet!!

I did think of the milkshake things but wasn't sure if he was old enough. I've heard of complan being used too.

Flapjacks sound great, as do the quesadillas. Might try with a shop bought guacamole first though as its a pain to get a nice avocado round here.

I've added double cream to my shopping list, it's getting added to his portion of sauces etc. Olives might be right up his street - green or black? I'm assuming they are in jars, in oil?

Olives - we either buy them in a jar of from the deli counter in a supermarket. They do tend to be in oil. We always get green ones because I prefer the taste, but green and blacks ones would be similarly high in fat. You can buy them already flavoured with herbs/lemon etc, but I buy plain ones and then sick in a couple of sprigs of rosemary when I get home - yummy
