When do you...

Oh, we're done with all that vegetable-steaming and mess, our children are cutlery-wielding, spaghetti-chomping angels... at least some of the time.

When do you...

... start giving more wholemeal food? I've always felt uneasy giving Wriggles white bread, rice etc as I'm big believer in wholemeal but I know it can be too much fibre for babies. At what age did you start to give more brown stuff?

Joe used to eat it from about 1 but then he developed toddler diahorreah and I was told it can be from too much fibre so now the boys have white rice and pasta but I stick with granary bread.

When I first went to the docs with Izz because of her withholding/poo issues (you know, all I seem to talk about on here is poo... wtf! anyway..) he asked me what she ate, specifically asked about wholemeal breads etc. I said that I didn't give them because I'd read in the birth to 5 book about them being unsuitable before 2 because of TOO MUCH fibre. The look on his face was priceless - told me it bollocks, get it down her neck.

So there we go.

We've pretty much always had lovely seeded/granary bread. We used to have the 'Best Of Both' stuff because it's actually quite low in salt, but I always had my own seeded stuff and Dylan would sometimes have some of that.

I like brown bread/rice/flour/whatever and DP likes white. It pretty much sums us up personality wise. I'm the hippy and he's the capitalist  So TheWriggler has had a mix from 6m I think. Although once we ran out of brown rice I did admit defeat on that front...

DD has always had brown/granary/seeded bread. We always used to have brown rice and pasta but for a while i was buying white as it was cheaper, we're back on the brown now and she has never had 'poo issues'!
