is there such a thing as too much cinnamon?

Oh, we're done with all that vegetable-steaming and mess, our children are cutlery-wielding, spaghetti-chomping angels... at least some of the time.

This. It's used to calm down engorged boobs as well!
The one thing I know with hallucinogenic effect is Poppy seeds! Can that be added into the science fruit cake? :bsmile

You can't buy nutmeg in Kuwait - it's immoral or haram or something, along with pork products and alcohol :(.

I once asked in a health food store for a cough medicine for T when she was about 9 months old, and the Indian manager told me that they didn't have anything but in India they use turmeric mixed with honey (never mind the no-honey-before-12-months thing).

While I think of it, did anyone know you can put honey on burns to soothe them? Burnt myself while on holiday in Oman recently, went to the pharmacy with my hand in a cup of water, and he said "don't put it in water, it'll just make it swell - use honey or butter!" I tried it (I'm always burning my fingers, usually on steam from dodgy saucepan lids) and it does work.

Lol at the BLW science cake!

No, no, no never butter or honey on burns! It cooks the burn! Only cold water for burns - although Im probably going to be proven wrong by someone!!

Myristicin is the component in cinnamon, nutmeg etc that is hallucinogenic. The essential oils contain it but you need to use a fair amount to have that effect.

There has been research in recent years into the tumour reducing properties of turmeric. Pretty amazing.

Well I thought so too but the water didn't help much, and the honey seemed to!

You have to keep it under running water for at least 10 minutes at a time, if it still burns after 40 minutes, I think it needs looking at then? Im trying to remember my training.

my gram used to put cinnamon in her homemade tomato sauce.

wish there were other spices that brought out the flavor like cinnamon - i sometimes feel i overuse it (fruit, yogurt, pancakes, french toast).

Running tepid water for burns. Better than just sitting in water as it needs to continually run over. HAven't heard about honey, but butter sizzles burns - honey maybe caramalize, lol? But the key is holding a burn for a very long time under running tepid water - not cold as the temperature difference is bad for the skin - at least 10 minutes. I also constantly bump my arms on the oven racks and if I don't get a chance to put it straight under running water it will bubble, but if I hold it under running water for 10 minutes or more, it may just go a bit red and sunburn feeling, but no blisters and no scarring.

Official advice here on burns is 20minutes under cool running water. However, once a burn has been cooled, there is evidence supporting the use of honey in dressings:

Not as much fun as cake though
