Bowls & plates

Oh, we're done with all that vegetable-steaming and mess, our children are cutlery-wielding, spaghetti-chomping angels... at least some of the time.

The other thing about this - I know I am a stuck record on this topic  but - they don't know what they're supposed to do! It's obvious to us that the food is supposed to stay on the plate and when they don't want a piece they should put it back there, but it's not obvious to them at all... so as well as telling them what not to do, it also helps to say "yes! well done for putting that piece back on the plate, not on the floor!"

You feel a bit of an idiot doing it, mind :D

You're so full of wonderful insights Eleanor. I always think "Doh!" when I read your posts. Why didn't I think of that? I praise him like mad for everything else but just didn't think...

Bruno had a plate for lunch yesterday and after the first ooh can I lift it, he tucked into the meatballs that were on there. Once meatballs were done with & he clearly didn't want the pasta or garlic bread then I had to remove the plate and leave the food for him to throw around. I just couldn't cope with tomato sauce going everywhere!
