Cutlery - when?

Oh, we're done with all that vegetable-steaming and mess, our children are cutlery-wielding, spaghetti-chomping angels... at least some of the time.

Cutlery - when?

Small took to forks at about 13 months - prompted by the other kids at nursery. (We have always spooned in a self-spoon-grabbing stylee.)

Now at 17 months she uses both fork and spoon pretty competently by herself - occasionally diving in with a hand when she gets impatient.

Oddly, she always puts the cutlery down before rubbing food into her hair - maybe they have inbuilt kid-skills that stop them stabbing a fork into the temple?

I recall one incident where DD stuck a fork in her ear and was rather surprised, but other than that it's been simple! :D

We have got a little metal cutlery set. i've just started putting a fork out for Little Man (11 months) and he thinks it's hilarious. He was trying to stab raisins this afternoon and was picking up the food in one hand and the fork in the other and trying to put them together - bless!
