Poor weight gain and Allergies

Postby shiropup » 11 Aug 2016, 21:32

Hello.

So my LO just turned 7 months today *yay* and we've been doing blw for about 2 weeks (I fed her mush for two weeks just to try it out). My LO has had poor weight gain and weighs 12 lbs now. This is when people ask "What are you feeding her?!" Breastmilk exclusively from months 2-5, supplementing with formula months 5 onward. So far she's eaten rice cereal, avocado, banana, peaches, sweet potato, carrots, eggs, zucchini, prunes, beef meat balls, broccoli, spinach.

So I was just wondering what I could be feeding her that is high calorie and nutrient dense? I've been feeding her lots of avocado and egg yolk.

My husband has many food allergies so I'm trying a new food every Mon-Weds-Fri so...it's been kind of a struggle for me to figure out what to feed her. I'm hesitant to feed her dairy as my husband is lactose intolerant and I haven't introduced many iron rich foods into her diet yet.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Okay, I have no experience with allergies, so hopefully one of our allergy experts will be along shortly...

Newt was probably about the same size at the same age, so I'm trying to remember what we offered her. Avocado, banana, porridge (made up with cream), full-fat greek yoghurt, hummus, sweet potato, eggs, butter, tahini...
I have a feeling alot of those might be allergens?

One thing I wanted to say though, is don't stress if you find she isn't eating many solids right away. Just keep giving her milk pq honestly, milk is the easiest thing for her to digest and the most calorific food she can eat right now.

Thanks for replying EnigmaFish. Good to know I'm not the only one with a small or slow growing baby. Yes I'm aware of the saying that food before one is just for fun. I have low milk supply too so that's why I'm supplementing with formula. It's just frustrating when she won't nurse or refuses the bottle.
