How to make food less slimy?

Postby Jennvanessa1083 » 19 Jan 2016, 19:55

I have tried sautéing zucchini and steaming apples as well as baking apples. They come out slippery for my 7.5 month old to hold or they have a skin that he finds it hard to eat. How soft do I cook them? Any tips on making food less slippery and slimy?

Thank you!

You can roll it in breadcrumbs/ oatmeal/other things I can't remember! Or squish a bit onto a rice cake/ bread to start with. make sure the pieces are narrow enough for their little hands. And it's all practise, he'll get there! My 7 mo sometimes just face plants on food on her tray to eat it!

Zucchini are good tossed in seasoned flour then fried, to give them a bit of a crust. Roasted veg get more of a crust on them, too, plus they have fats which make them more nutritious for babies than steamed veg. Or try using a crinkle cutter to make textured batons so they're easier to grip.

There's a great recipe somewhere in the recipe section for zucchini/ courgette fritters...
