Honeymoon gifts

Honeymoon gifts

Postby Kanga » 06 Jun 2016, 15:20

I am bridesmaid in a couple of weeks & we want to put together a gift bag for the couple when they leave. Someone did it for me & put in crisps, biscuits, bottles of juice & champagne etc plus some joke bits. It was a lifesaver as we were so hungry & dehydrated when we got to the hotel.

I am thinking as well as food & drink of maybe getting some massage oil or bath bombs or something. We want to keep it fairly classy but now I'm stuck for any other ideas!!

Disposable film camera
Scented candle & matches
Gift card to buy pizza (maybe not for everyone but we definitely would've used it on our honeymoon!)

Ooh a candle is a good idea. They are going to France so not sure how a gift card could work. That said, we gave them money for dates as part of the hen do.

Film camera? Don't you have mobile phones with cameras in Canada? Wow, did the beaver drown those in honey too?

I think this shows our age mp. StJ is of the generation that sees film cameras as romantic nostalgia, like carriage rides or rotary telephones, whereas for us they're just the inferior way photography used to be when we were teenagers.

...or am I just that hipster? DH and I used to like documenting our lives with a Polaroid camera. These days we're too busy though...

We had disposable cameras on the tables at our wedding reception for people to take random photos as the party went on. I think I'm about the same age as StJ though?

Are you? I always feel like the positive forum baby at 26 so just assume everyone is older than me...

I'm 28, so a tiny bit older, but I always feel very young around here too!

I remember when Polaroids were the height of photographic technology (I kid you not). To be fair, some of my peers are grandparents already :-/

No suggestions, I'm afraid.
If your friends are flying, remind them to pack whatever it is you give them in hold luggage, as otherwise it will just get confiscated by security. Unless you're giving them less than 100ml of champagne!

I always felt like a baby around here but now that my first baby is about to turn 8 & I'm 33 I guess I'm not so much anymore!

What about a massage bar? Lush do them. It's like massage oil but less messy and possibly more classy. I was trying to think of something that nods towards the sexy element of a honeymoon, but is still classy, like the bath bombs you suggested.
That aside, let's get back to the actual purpose of this thread: I'm slightly annoyed that you don't all have your ages in your profiles. How am I supposed to know exactly how old LL is? Or mp? It's no fun if I have to guess.
