Do you find your LO's birthdays a bit strange??

Whatever you like, really, knock yourself out... I'm not the boss of you.

Do you find your LO's birthdays a bit strange??

Postby UnhappyRightFoot » 24 May 2016, 20:55

Or is it just me?

I spend the whole day thinking about where I was and what I was doing during the day. What stage of labour I was in - the walking round the garden stage, the hanging off the sink stage, the aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh in the pool stage.......

Right now, 6 years ago, I was in hospital being stitched...!

Happy 6th birthday Munchie.

I know what you mean! I think it should actually be a day just for the parents to reminisce!

Happy birthday Munchie :)

The early ones absolutely. It was a MASSIVE life event for everyone in the family... but as they get older and start to understand the whole birthday concept, it is less so. There are only so many times you can tell them their birth story and once they can regurgitate it back to you, I find I have moved on... :)

My labors and deliveries are all blurred out in my memory - no way I'd be able to remember that xyz happened at a certain time of day - I can barely keep it straight in my head to remember what time each child was actually born.

I'm more likely to just spend the day marveling at how quickly a year has sped by, how much they have grown and changed in a year, etc.

I'm more like Treeb-- I remember a general framework but I couldn't point to the time of day when I was getting stitched up!

Definitely the first birthday, less so the rest but I do spend the day remembering. I think of E's first birthday as my first birth-day!

TBH, I don't think I ever have no. I'm more a "wow, we're has the last year / 2 years / 4 years gone" kinda person. Can't believe CM will be 2 next week.
