Growing pains

Help! Does anyone know a way of preventing growing pains??

A decided to actually sleep decently for once tonight, but instead of being able to enjoy it and catch up on some sleep of my own I have been up twice with L who was crying in pain saying his feet hurt. (Sometimes it is his legs, but more often his feet/ankles.) He likes it when we rub the hurting area, and usually requests a heat pack put on it to help him get back to sleep, but it would be great if there's a way to prevent him from having the pains to begin with.

Sorry if this is a bit rambly and incoherent. It is 2:40 in the morning and I am up nursing A, who decided to wake up just as I was drifting back to sleep after the second time being up with L. These children have impeccable timing.
Mama to big boy L born Sept. 2012, and baby girl A born June 2015.

Poor L and poor you! I remember having growing pains as a child; my mum took me to the GP but they said there was no remedy. Sorry! Hopefully medical science has discovered the answer in the last 30 years and someone will come along with more up to date advice.
