Chalkboard door?

Chalkboard door?

Postby ChristmasGift » 01 Feb 2016, 20:01

We're finally decorating our spare room to turn into a bedroom for the Babs. I doubt she'll sleep there for ages but at least she'll have a space of her own and I can get some of the toys out of the living room!
Anyway I'm thinking of painting one of the internal doors with chalkboard paint. It seems like a good idea but am I going to regret it the minute I do it? Hoovering up a bit of dust doesn't bother me but are there any other downsides I haven't thought of?

Chalk isnt that dusty really... Both my girls have chalkboard sliding doors on their wardrobes and it's absolutely fine. They love them and use them all the time! I leave wee messages and pictures on them too :)

Go for it!

As long as she will grasp the idea she's only to do it there! Not sure I would trust Moo yet not to start graffiting the whole house. Hmm, also, would it rub off on clothes as you go in and out? Think I'm being a bit too serious about it!

Don't worry yp - chalk use would be closely monitored! I don't think we'll have too much of an issue with chalk rubbing off as it the door to an integral cupboard and is behind the actual door to the room.

I had visions of leaving messages and pictures for her :)

A few weeks ago I did a snowman outline and wrote 'Hey, where's the rest of me'? She drew on a face but forgot a scarf so I added 'That's better but I'm so cold. Help'! :)

We have used paint before and not been that impressed with it. I recently bought a roll of blackboard sticky-back plastic and put it on some kitchen cupboards, and that is really good, much smoother.
