Good luck everyone!

Emzit, funny that you are just choosing schools now. Over here nearly all kindys are attached to schools. I had to choose Koala's school when he was 2.5 (that's how early you have to enrol if you want a private spot). We ended up going public but we had to do the tours etc and decide way back then!

I woke up to an email - C got offered our first choice, which was no surprise. So our next jobs are 1) explain to the world and their cousin (especially those who did this a few years back, when our school had a very poor reputation); 2) convince C that wearing grey clothes will not bring the world to an end.

So it would appear that we are supposed to receive a letter today. However, we have just moved house and I only remembered to set up the redirection last night. Oops. Still, it doesn't really matter, as I'd be relatively happy with any of the three schools we put down. But knowing would be nice!

We got our first choice. No real surprise, as it's big and undersubscribed, but we're outside catchment so it's nice to have it confirmed. Now I can move on to worrying about the fact that their stay-and-play sessions and home visits are in July, and we'll be away for almost the whole month.

ETA LL did you apply online? Can you log back in and see if the info is there? Our results are on the application portal, as well as being sent out by email and letter.

We got our first choice of the village school :D :D :D

But have a few friends who wanted other schools outside of catchment that their siblings are at who haven't got the same school as the siblings :(

Good luck for those still waiting to find out.

Turns out if I were less of an idiot and had notifications activated for my phone, I would have seen the email in my gmail account, informing me that C was allocated her first place school, a 2-form entry school, still the closest one to where we live. Someone mentioned on Saturday that they'd heard about quite a few kids leaving (although that may have been a year or two ago) but I liked the place and the staff when I visited (twice!). A new head took over last summer and she seemed like she knows what she's doing. Suppose I'd best start knitting her uniform*. Hope you all get where you need to go.

Hurrah for all the first choices. Us too and no uniform to knit or purchase!

Good news so far :)
We're in too (no surprises there) and so are all the friends we've heard from, yay. So Hamster should have at least some buddies in her class, remains to see how they split the two classes.
No uniform? Jealous. Mind you either you have to allocate "school clothes" or name tag all the clothing he owns :P

Fourth choice here. Great. Going to have a look around on Wednesday but strongly considering HE.

I'm sorry, pH. Can you appeal or go on waiting lists?

We are thrilled with our selection but also a bit sad. One school we loved but didn't choose as it felt hypocritical to put a religious school first, has got a great group of people we know going there. And they're all planning meet ups etc already. I know it'll be fine and we love the school we got but still...

Sorry to hear that ph. I read that 1 in 6 kids in Birmingham didn't get their first choice. Hope it turns out better than you fear on Weds.

We won't know anyone at Izbiz's school, either. His nursery is nowhere near our house, and our friends in town aren't in our neighbourhood.

Thanks. I can appeal but it seems pointless as we have no grounds other than 'it's not good enough'. Unless I am blown away on Wednesday I think we will go on the waiting list and HE while hoping for a place.

Glad most of you got first choice offers :)

Sorry to hear that p_h.

We were lucky an got our first choice too. Now just need to stress about whether it was the right choice, whether my baby is really old enough to start school and ehem...perhaps need to stop BFing before we become a Little Britain sketch.

P_H I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope you're able to find a solution that works.

Marron - stick to your guns when people react to the school you've chosen. We went with a school with worse Ofsted than our catchment school. I had a few people look at me with amazement, including one helpful woman whose kids go to the catchment school who told me confidently that her friend has kids at both and doesn't rate the one we chose (after she knew we'd been offered that one). I managed a terse response about how different schools suit different families. And we made the right choice. The smaller, less busy environment has suited our sensitive boy, and they are very child-led and have been supportive of him attending part-time. Reputation from a few years ago and Ofsted results aren't everything.
