Two year old 'drank contact lens solution, wwyd?

Postby biccytoria » 15 Aug 2013, 10:07

I found Molly with my contact lens case open and pressed to her mouth, as of she was drinking it, with 2.5ml missing and her saying that she did drink it. I'm dubious as it would taste rank but who knows....

I have tried googling and not found much helpful, key ingredients are hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, phosphate cells and Oxipol TM

Boisterous 6 year old, boob-obsessed two year old and me having the runs is not a conducive environment to making a decision or researching even and I know
NHS direct will say go in as they always do.

Wwyd?!

I would ring NHS Direct - they should have info on poisons as part of the National Poisons Info Service.

Better to not risk it.

Yes give them a ring - they will call the Poisons people before advising you whether to go to GP. Read a similar thread on another forum recently, and people were not automatically told to go to GP, it depended on advise from NPIS. ((())) Hope all is ok but it isn't worth risking - some poisons can have a delayed reaction, so even if she is fine now it is possible she could become ill later. I'm sure it's fine with such a tiny amount, but not worth the risk.

I called nhs direct after DD1 drank some make up remover. They asked a series of questions and I gave them the brand name and ingredients and they said it was fine she didn't need to go in, but told me if I noticed certain symptoms to take her to A&E. It was Simple make up remover so maybe it didn't have dangerous ingredients. But I would definitely call them if I were u. Hope she's ok xx

All the walls are tiled so I'm paranoid about breaking one to drill a hole but it might have to be...

Yesterday it was my moisturiser smeared all over her face, the day before my powder dabbed on her face and she was eating toothpaste after the contact lens case episode... She's turned into a full on pickle!

Ooooooo, I see what you did there: putting your link inside the quote makes it look more legitimate, and just using copy/paste saves you the trouble of even writing a nonsensical reply. Well done!

Still, it's nice to see some old names again. I wonder how biddy and biccytoria are doing?

We're all well, thanks! Molly is at school now, very scary! Just as strong willed, obviously!

Well, hello! We have some really special new spammers. They like to pretend they're real people. We like to amuse ourselves by baiting them.
Did you ever hang a cabinet on your tiled walls? I know a really handy trick to keep them from splitting...

I didn't put a cabinet up but last year I put a mirror up, tiles didn't crack, I went through two drill bits instead, turns out our textured tiles are pretty solid!

Oh, wow! A carpenter I know told me to put masking tape over the section I want to drill. For some reason, that keeps them from cracking. It's good yours are so strong though. Better a couple new drill bits than new tiles!
