Can anyone recommend a crash course in ....

children's stories and nursery rhymes  ?

DS1 is going to a couple of playgroups now that heavily involve singing and I always look like a pleb as I have no clue about these Peters and Pauls and tea pots and wheels on the bus :? ! It doesn't help either that some of the English nursery rhymes have the melodies of German Christmas songs which I am always tempted to sing to proove I know some sort of lyrics ....

Loubylou - does that name come from Andy Pandy? I got the boys a collection of Beatrix Potter books now - for me to get informed a bit.

I know that sounds so so so stupid, I know the Brothers Grimm by heart but everything else that seems to be relevant here I just don't know :-( Makes me feel a bit like a failure to be honest.

I would appreciate any recommendations!

At our local libraries there are bounce and rhyme sessions. I go nearly every week and have learnt a few old and a few new ones too!! Its really sociable and free. Check to see if they have one in your area.

You're not a failure tho. I hardly ever know the words. You could always get a book or cd with them on, DS would love that too.

I find the bounce and rhyme sesh's really good, at the library - he loves all the other kids, tho most are older than him..

also we go to a local playgroup and they always finish with nursery rhymes and songs for a few minutes - my fave of the moment is

I'm a little Teapot
