Campers, festi-heads, hikers, even spelunkers... all welcome here. No fresh air activity too hearty, no fold-up product too desirable.

£800 *splutters inarticulately*

We got a new (last season) Royal Cuban 6 last week - was seriously tempted by the beautiful blooooo coloured new Lichfield but the guy said it wouldn't stand the kind of camping we do :( (Also DH claims colour is not a valid criteria to judge a tent on).

We had an Outwell Nevada 4 and has served us well (its going on to my brother+ wife) - just wanted more indoor living space for when its bucketing it down for a week. I would say footprint ground sheet is well worth it if you camp in muddy places - you can pack the tent up clean and just hose down the footprint. I've never understood the carpet thing though...

B&J want to go to a site near us (where we can have FIRE) for Easter weekend, but chances looking slim -> zero (tending towards 0!).

WHAT?!

i fancy the nevada... they've whoooshed up in price as well, though. they worked out at £170 for a while, with various offers, but now are back up at £500. outwell tents are imo stunning (although not as stunning as bells).

btw Tintin that quechua one is pretty but the singularly annoying thing about those tents (mine included) is that the windows are mesh, not plastic. so it means that if it rains, you're sitting inside in the dark. they're really built for hot camping, i reckon.

Yes, unread a couple of reviews of the Quechua last night and pretty much discounted it. T definitely seems to be made for better weather than we generally get in this country!

We borrowed a tent last summer, so we've had our practice run at it. DP wasn't exactly enthusiastic but the girls loved it, and he could see why it's a good family hooray option. It was actually his suggestion that we go for it again this year! :)
He is adamant however that we need a tent with big living space so that if the weather is crap, we've got enough room to happily play indoors.

no reviews of that one, though, so it must be new? what i like is that you could sleep in one section but keep one of the little bedrooms as a 'cupboard'. it's totally something i wish we had, just a bit of storage to zip things out of the way. and am i right in thinking that the porch is included?

i think the old canopy is better though. Good shelter from a bit of wine and rain but you still feel a bit outdoors. Also the kids can come and go without taking wellies off.

Spanner, where is it you camp that you have to shelter from the wine? ;-) surely drinking it would be the better option!

This looks like a cheaper version of the Bear Lake 6 that we have, it's a good tent! The porch came with the Bear Lake.

Ha ha - I clearly cannot think about camping without thinking about wine! Ok - shelter from the wind and DRINK the wine (helps keep you warm) but not too much late at night if you want to stay in your sleeping bag...

Morlyte's link works for me! :? It's a Vango Kasari 800!

Still haven't bought anything yet (but you have all pointed me towards some cheaper sites, so the pressure to buy this weekend for Special Offer prices is off!
