Tent recommendations?

Campers, festi-heads, hikers, even spelunkers... all welcome here. No fresh air activity too hearty, no fold-up product too desirable.

Oh, just realised that if you are 5 you will probably struggle with the inner, we slept in the smaller side with our double airbed completely filling the width and just room for bags of clothes at our feet, the boys had the larger side with A on a Kampa kids airbed and F in the travel cot there was room to spare between them so I could lift F in and out without waking A but I don't thing you would have fitted two single airbeds beside the travel cot, unless your bigger ones were on a double airbed which might fit, and then you might have trouble getting in and out to tuck them in... Spanner & Toothfairy are probably right and a 6 man would be better. There are some great deals around at the moment :D

We can just fit a double and three single self inflating mats in our 6 man tent.

We fit two double self-inflating mats side by side in our five man tent. It doesn't really leave any room at the edges unless someone actually likes to sleep with their face pressed up against the canvas.

I guess it depends how long you hope to keep it? You and DH could sleep the right way round with the kids lined up in a row next to you - their heads pointing to your side? Initially I assume baby will sleep in with you and DH, in which case space won't be much of a problem for a couple of years?

Yes I was thinking two double airbeds side by side-me dh and baby in one and h &j in the other. We won't be taking any cots/highchairs. I will just bring the pushchair for eating. For a few weekends away I really dont want to spend too much money.

Hey Nixxie did you buy the Vango Odyssey Tent? I've noticed that it's down to £134 in Argos, we were thinking of getting it too.

No we are useless and still haven't bought one. My friend is dragging his heels about organising this camping trip even though it was his idea. I think that's a great price though for that tent! I am not sure what to do because we might not even go camping if he doesn't organise things soon and we don't have the room to store another tent for no reason. When I see him today ill ask him.

I know what you mean Nixxie, your friend needs to get a move on. Some shops have discounts on camping stuff like Argos and Tesco and it probably won't be for long!

Argh, it seems that Vango at Argos is out of stock for home delivery. And all the stores near us are out of stock too, I've checked the Manchester area (as my SIL and BIL live there) and it's out of stock too. :(

Here http://www.singersoutdoors.co.uk/vango- ... -p3541.asp for £149 which is still a good price, it's JUST everything else we'd need to get!

Right the camping trip is booked. Step dad has a brand new halfords basic four man tent which is just one room. For the purpose of the upcoming trip since there will be 5 other tents pitched nearby, some with huge living space, we are just going to use his. It will only be for sleeping in. We will need to get another blow up bed though. Off to start a thread on what we'll need!
