So we got to camp on Friday at about 5.30pm, thankfully the rain had stopped. We met up with our friends, the kids played and all was lovely.

Saturday
Weather lovely, toddler very happy to be on an adventure, 4 yo AWFUL. One tantrum after the other, calling us names, final straw at 6pm when I decided it was home we went.
Slept at home.

Sunday
POURED all day, 4 yo behaved so we went back to camp to drop off bits we had thrown in the car night before. Then off to jubilee party at MIL. Back to camp at about 8pm, went to see our friends, kids in bed by 9pm. STILL POURING.

Monday. 4 yo is now 5 yo.
DP wakes up at 5am, says tent has leaked, his back is soaking. Tent hasn'teaked. 5 yo has. All over the sleeping bags and crash mat.
Get up, do presents, wait for toddler to wake up, go home with wet sleeping equipment, STILL raining so eat birthday fry up at home, go to Toy shop to spend some birthday money, back to camp. Can't stay for final night as no sleeping bags/mat. Wait for break in weather empty tent and take it down.

£110 for a 4 night camping trip which was mostly spent at home.

How was your jubilee weekend of camping?!

Sorry but this made me smile. Currently in sodden tent which is starting to drip. Pretty much 5 hours solid rain. Trip to windmill and tea room followed by fish and chips. Just got kids to sleep and i think it's stopped! For now. Time for wine ...

Oh dear morlyte...

We weren't planning to camp last weekend, we were going to do a day trip to Southwell festival as I was dancing during the day and DH playing early evening. Only an hour or so's drive away. On Friday evening we realised we had no other plans for the weekend, and thought we might as well stay over and enjoy a bit more of the festival.

Did we check the forecast? No.... just ran around like headless chickens getting all the stuff sorted, failed to set the alarm properly so ran around manically in the morning too, then drove down to arrive just in time. Had a lovely day on Saturday, reasonable weather, friends, dancing, lots of kiddy stuff to keep Jiglet happy and DH had a good gig.

Saturday night it started raining, and it rained and rained and rained. We spent Sunday morning lazing around in the tent hoping it might ease off a bit, gave up and packed up in the rain, then decided we really ought to go to the festival site for a bit to make staying over worthwhile. So we went and had a cup of tea under the shelter thing (DH went - he doesn't drink tea and didn't understand that drinking earl grey in a paper cup is just WRONG! ), I stayed there feeding Bell and DH & Jiglet went for a play. Her wellies, quite expensive ones that my parents got her, leaked so she had wet feet. And getting her out of her all-in-one for a wee without getting anything on the wet floor in the portaloos was an interesting challenge! So after an hour we gave up and headed home...

And what's more, we're camping again this weekend for another music event and the forecast is just as bad :?

PS - Spanner - hope the tent doesn't get too wet!
