Valentine's present

Oh look, it's broadly a place to talk about special occasions, party tips and to swap present ideas but let's be perfectly honest, this forum is here because I want to get excited about CHRIIIIIISTMAS from about June onwards.

Valentine's present

For my other half, any ideas? Am brilliantly prepared, as per usual, so have left a whole day to buy/make something. Let's be honest, buy something. What are you lovely people doing, if you are boarding the consumerist claptrap train that is Valentine's Day?

We don't bother. Neither of us like being told to be romantic so we ignore it. Both our birthdays are this month anyway so we have gifts planned for that.

My DH is working nights over the weekend so will be sleeping/working. We had takeout curry last weekend instead - would probably have done that anyway as we had fancy beer to drink - oooh, would he like fancy beer? We did!

We do it as it's our anniversary on 17th. I bought a packet of bee friendly wildflower seeds called 'bee mine', how cute! We're both into growing. Coupled with a card that says I think you're well fit, I've gone somewhat tongue in cheek this year :) although I do think he's well fit...

I'm making my DH gift vouchers /cheques for twelve meals out, one to be used per month. Think I'm going to put something like "this cheque entitles the bearer to one meal out at ... With one other person" and more fool him if he doesn't take me lol. Think I'm going to choose some places to eat, some fancier than others, some little cafe/coffee has etc, but each one to be used just for the two of us, no kids allowed lol. I did wonder about letting him choose the venue but think we'd get stuck in a rut and always eat at the same couple of places, so in order to branch out a bit Im choosing lol.

Basically, I'm ensuring we get a proper date night each month lol.

It's our anniversary on 19th so we get a joint pressie to cover both, rather than ending up with bits neither of us really wants. This year we got the Miranda boxset.

Nope. I'm waiting to see if MrC remembers. He won't. We usually do a card and a nice meal at home (since kids, previously we went out somewhere nice but never on valentines). I always arrange everything we do so I'm doing nothing to see what happens. Backfired on our anniversary so I'm wondering if he'll remember now.

Ooh I like this idea. Mind if I steal it? I've ordered blank cheques online which should have been here today but aren't. Fingers crossed for tomorrow then.

We went out to lunch (with L along) last weekend as a Valentine's-ish thing.

The last few years I have made him baked treats during the day while he was at work for him to come home to on Valentine's day. Strawberry cake one year and decorated heart shaped sugar cookies another. L and I will be making/decorating cookies tomorrow, but this year it isn't a surprise for dh.

I've also got a not-really-Valentines-themed gift for him, which is a photo book of the past year. We did one together the previous year and I know he was wanting it to be a yearly thing but hasn't mentioned it yet, so when I saw a deal for them I decided to do it as a sneaky gift and the timing just worked out right to do it for Valentine's day.

We went out for burgers (early bc children & babysitters) and I got him a scarf and some balsam fir incense. He didn't get me anything, but we don't usually (well, I usually write him a poem but that's it). I just saw these things and thought of him
