Advent Activities 2014 - what did you do?

Oh look, it's broadly a place to talk about special occasions, party tips and to swap present ideas but let's be perfectly honest, this forum is here because I want to get excited about CHRIIIIIISTMAS from about June onwards.

Yesterday was making salt dough decorations. They went into the oven before I had breakfast, then painted in the afternoon (so impressed with muncher, we started while squish was in bed but he woke up and I had to try and resettle him so left muncher alone with the paints :scream but he didn't spill a drop anywhere other than the splat mat) and stringing and hanging up after dinner. Squish did a wonky snowman and a peachy handprint.

Later today we are attempting meringue snowmen.

Thursday was a nursery day so we did stickers and yesterday we went to Edinburgh Christmas market and Santaland. It was great. Not sure SG is getting the theme thou gh... Two of the rides she asked to go on were 'the kangaroos' (reindeer carousel' and 'the angry geese' (Swan Lake)! The swans did look kind of mean :D

Day 3: We made cranberry sauce and marzipan-ed our mini Christmas cakes.
Day 4: Snowman 'Fun' soap from Lush in the bath. B loved this!
Day 5: Nursery day so B made a penguin window decoration from my stash of Hobbycraft £1 activity kits that take five minutes!
Day 6: Snowmen pancakes for breakfast, and we're visiting the reindeer later. Our Christmas cakes need icing but I think I will do this without 'help' :D and she can decorate them in the week.

Tomorrow we're off to London to see the Peppa Pig Christmas show, and to visit Winter Wonderland on Monday.

Still loving this!

Day 5: school Christmas fayre (for TheWriggler) but I was called by TheBean's nursery to be told he had a temperature and a rash so no festive activities for him :-(
Day 6: Christmas tree buying/decorating.
Day 7: Christmas wreath making at the local Eco Park.

I was asked today if I had decorated their bedroom. Might need to add that to the list...

I need to up my game, I've been a it rubbish! Done: Day 1 is always a Christmas sticker/activity book to keep them going for the month, did new xmas books and jingle bell bracelets.

Does anyone else to chocolate AND activity? I swear it was never my intention, in fact it was the exact opposite of the point of the calendar, but it's just sort of happened that way now!

So far, we've watched the Snowman, set up our nativity scene and read the Christmas story, made paper snowflakes, played in the woods and then warmed up with a hot chocolate and had a Christmas music 'disco'.
I've been nowhere near as organised this year because I'm stupidly busy at work which makes me really sad but despite that, it's been lovely again. The kids are so excited :)

Everyone's activities sound great :D

Yesterday we made gingerbread men (and elk, moomins, Christmas trees and stars!) which was brilliant. We made them last year but now that SG is that bit older she was able to do so much more. It was fab :) Today we decorated the girls' rooms together and decorated the pine cones we collected on day 1.

Today we did snowmen pictures ( just cotton wool, glue and various craft bits) which she really enjoyed. Tomoro is sticker book as I have a very ominous feeling that she's coming down with something and stickers are very doable... And yes dusty, we do activity and tiny choc (little snowball thing)

Today's activity was to buy a you for a needy child and drop off to the giving tree at the library. Muncher got his heart set on something above budget and wouldn't be steered away. I half thought he wanted it for himself (my suggestion was something he has that is aged with daily) but I gave in and he was excited that the boy would play with it. (We chose to buy for boys the same as as muncher and squish).

We did snowflakes yesterday, P did well but got a bit frustrated that mine were prettier than his. We stuck them to his window and then R climbed up on a table and tore them but luckily P took it in stride. We also decorated the tree. Two in one day means it's ok to skip today, right?
