Advent Activities 2014 - what did you do?

Oh look, it's broadly a place to talk about special occasions, party tips and to swap present ideas but let's be perfectly honest, this forum is here because I want to get excited about CHRIIIIIISTMAS from about June onwards.

Day 3, making paper snowflakes quickly before childcare. Muncher wasn't a fan, he helped with one then wanted the cut outs and sticky tape to make a boat and them refused to decorate the fireplace with the others I'd done for him. He liked his boat though.

Haha, emzit we had a similar morning here making paper wreaths. Koala was most incensed I wanted to stick on a bow and berries to make it a wreath, it was a tunnel for his train as far as he was concerned! Stj, funny you have found a craft lover in P. After this morning I vowed to do as little craft as possible. Koala was bored and I was cranky, not a good combo!

Today is DH & my work Christmas party which I'm in charge of so that's plenty of Christmas activity for the day. The boys will enjoy the food and being adored by lots of strangers, and stay up way past bedtime...

SG is at nursery all day today so it was supposed to be Christmas balloon fun (ie here are some Christmas balloons, do what you like) but I think I'll hide them and give her clues. She'll love that!

I'm so going to get busted when she can read for herself. Day 3 and I have still to read out what is actually on the advent activity lollypop sticks...

We've got the Christmas books out, Twas Night Before Christmas knitted toys and visited the garden centre to see all the lights / decorations. Wriggles has been very excited, remembered it from last year. Writing letter to FC tomorrow.

We have written a letter to Santa, done all by himself with spelling help from mum. I am so chuffed considering in Sept all he could do was just write his name. I have started sorting out a Xmas Eve box and bought some more xmas decorations. I think this yaer we will put them up early & leave the tree for last as an special activity.

We've done glitter pine cones which was the usual success, put the letters to santa on the fire so he gets them and today is dancing to music as I needed more time to prepare for another craft!

Tomorrow will be something easy too as it's gymnastics after school and we get home v.late. This weekend we will get the tree and go to the cinema. So a crafty event for Friday is a probability. Maybe make snowflakes although H did it at school this week already so possibly make tree dec's with air drying clay...

I love our advent activities. TheWriggler gets really excited and I feel like we have achieved something at the end of the day.

Day 1: decorating jars for the school raffle. Our year groip at school have a jar raffle, every one is a winner and you win a jar with random stuff inside it. The jars needed to be decorated in a festive way. Cue lots of glue and lots of glitter and a totally dedicated five year old. The two year old watched The Snowman...
Day 2: snowman pizza. This is an old favourite. Make pizza dough, roll out two circles, put together on an oven tray, cover with sauce and cheese. Use olives for the eyes and buttons. Technically it should be peppers for the nose and scarf but the boys don't like them so we went all out on the olive fromt instead. We had a neighbour over who loved it too
Day 3: Glowstick bathtime. Another old favourite. Buy glowsticks, run bath, turn out lights, activate glowsticks. Both boys loved this one. The Glowsticks are in their bedroom for a bit of nighttime glowing.

Day 4 is christmas stories because it's a workday (so was today, hence the glowsticks). I am really looking forward to the rest of December! :-)

Rtr - love the snowman pizza idea! I've got snowman pancakes on the list but the pizza would be a great one for getting monkeyboy more involved! He even ate the last pizza he made, despite it having both tomato sauce and cheese!

Nursery day here today so we put together a shoebox for someone who is homeless this Christmas. Tomorrow will be watching The Snowman (another nursery day).

We've just done our letters to Santa which has highlighted the importance of not doing the Christmas shopping until the list is official as he's changed his mind.

Does anyone know what a thing for making paper spirals might be? The only guidance I got was that you need paper.

That was what I thought StJ, but I don't think he'd know what they are. After his drawing session this afternoon I have been informed that it's just a pen.
