Wii game for 4 year old?

Oh look, it's broadly a place to talk about special occasions, party tips and to swap present ideas but let's be perfectly honest, this forum is here because I want to get excited about CHRIIIIIISTMAS from about June onwards.

Wii game for 4 year old?

Postby BLTMama » 08 Dec 2013, 14:34

Any suggestions? We're thinking one of the dancing games, but we don't really know what's out there. Something we can do along with her would be great -- we both have a low tolerance for "kids'" stuff. We have the Fit, but no other accessories and probably don't want to buy any.

Thanks!

We like the winter sports games, especially the Mario & sonic Winter Olympics one from a few years ago. The resort stuff is okay too, and we love mariokart, but you need steering wheels for that.

Thanks CC -- I'll look at those. Mariokart seems awesome (loved it for the SuperNintendo back in another life!), but I'm trying to hold the line on spending $$$$ on video games until she's a bit older (DH being of another mind!).

We play Super Mario Galaxy - Player One (me) does all the hard work and Player Two (him) collects stars and generally gets very excited :D.

He likes watching Mario Kart but gets frustrated playing it. We haven't tried anything for him to play on his own, he mostly likes the cooperation of doing something together.

This would be retro as our wii is quite old but The Boy loves wii ski. I'm sure there must be a more modern version.

My husband plays Super Mario with DD. She is getting better at walking and jumping as the second player but mostly she "bubbles" and floats along just watching the action. She also really loves Zelda, but that is pretty much all watching only - though she is surprisingly good at remembering the story line and which people asked the guy to do what things and figuring out some of the "puzzles" of the game.

It depends on how they are with video games already. A few months ago, my then 4yr old could finish Mario Galaxy on his own... (WHOA!), but when he first started games, it was Sesame Street or Dora.

What?! I can't finish Mario Galaxy and I'm 43!!!

We love the Lego games here, Indiana Jones, Star Wars...Dilly's asked for the Batman game for Christmas.

I love Lego City Undercover, but that's only for Wii U.

Just updating this to say we have a reason for his crazy good video game skills... he is ADHD and the games help him concentrate good and he plays a lot when he's all over the place (it sort of keeps him calm if that makes sense). He is 6 now and finishes games in like 2 days... we've moved on to Pokemon and Pikmin games. It is crazy how good he is though.

It's a little late... But Kirby's Epic Yarn. It's adorable, and it's 2player option is teamwork oriented, so he could carry your character through the sticky spots. =^.^=
Pokemon is how we verified that the oldest was indeed reading, she just didn't care for things printed on paper when there were adults around. (teacher's aid may have been reading her assignments to her, and she's lazy/willing to game the system so... such fun.)

Oh, yeah, he will read anything Pokemon related. I need to find him some Pokemon story books that are not French (this is all I see around here)
