Weight gain worries/rant

Second babies? Forgotten everything about breast and formula, napping and wrapping and you are are going a bit MAD because you haven't slept in three days? Or it's your first baby and you are here researching the joys of weaning?

Solid food? Already? Well then if people suggest that then tell them Mars bars will do the trick.
In my heart I am Rascalpup, a name awarded during battle with one persistent spammer. I like to think ironside but with sarcasm rather than an axe.

Slightly horrified by my huge number of posts.

My experience would be that your DH is right: if they were worried about his weight, they would be weighing him weekly. That's good.
Can you get the opinion of an independent ibclc? Sometimes HV aren't specialised enough to notice a tongue tie. Try to get a lactation consultant who is known to be an expert in that area.
In the meantime, have you tried doing deep breast compression while he feeds? It was recommended to me as a way to help Newt get more milk out. It wouldn't hurt. There's some good videos on Dr. Jack Newman's site to explain the technique.

Gah! We are still struggling with this. It is now 4 weeks since I saw feeding specialist and she asked me to get him weighed again. I was feeling better and had assumed/hoped his weight would be up.

He's gone from 5.34kg to 5.66 in 4 weeks so dropped another centile. They want me to go back next week & she said if he's still dropped he might need referring to the hospital to see if there's an underlying cause for him gaining slowly. When I got home though I realised they have plotted him at 20 weeks when he's only 18 weeks so that makes him lower on the centiles than he should be, slightly anyway.

On the whole we are still happy he's happy & developing but just small but obviously don't want to dismiss it if there is something going on with him. No-ones mentioned formula/solids as yet but I feel quite defensive in case they do! Especially if we end up seeing a Dr.
