Second babies? Forgotten everything about breast and formula, napping and wrapping and you are are going a bit MAD because you haven't slept in three days? Or it's your first baby and you are here researching the joys of weaning?

On a shameless quest for virtual hugs. I'm in a&e with squidge who's got a bad cough which they're concerned could be whooping cough. I'm actually pretty calm because apart from the cough he seems pretty well so chances are it's probably just a normal viral thing that'll get better.

But we have to stay in overnight and I've never been away from monkeyboy before <WAIL>. I thought I'd get more notice than this before being away from my baby. I know he'll be fine with his dad, but I feel awful and worried that he'll take it as evidence that his new brother has superseded him in my affection. Sob.

(((((()))))) MB will be fine, you can spend some one on one time when S is better and can be left with DH for a couple of hours. In the meantime, I really hope it's not WC but if it is, at least you're in the right place.

((((SF)))) That's so hard, I can quite imagine how rubbish you must be feeling. But, as you say, he will be fine.

I hope your poor tiny one gets better really soon.

I had sort of similar when baby 3 was a week or so old and toddler hit her head and had to go to A&E and I couldn't go with her. They ended up staying overnight for obs. She went with daddy and now talks about it as a great adventure. Daddies can be pretty good substitutes in these situations, I promise.

Hope it's all over soon x

Lots and lots of hugs from here, as my little boy is coughing and barking away with croup tonight. I hope you are seen quickly and squidge is soon home in bed and on the mend. xx

Hope he's better soon. Being away from ones babies is super hard, huh? I never expected it to e so hard.

That's funny as we've got whooping cough in our area in north yorkshire too and most of H's school have a cold with a cough at the moment. I hope they're over the worst quickly and I guess antibiotics will help? Don't worry about being away. H coped very well for 10 days without me and only saw us once in that whole time for a couple of hours. It's not easy but it will be over soon I hope and you can get back home x

Oh poor baby and poor you! I remember feeling exactly the same when Jasper was in hospital for three nights with a chest infection at 10 weeks. I think it was the first time I realised how much being a parent of two meant putting one ahead of the other when appropriate. It will be ok!
