Youch. You have my sympathy. Been there as well.

The not very helpful comments from people around me generally link that (along with rubbish eyesight & skin conditions) to hormones being all over the place due to breastfeeding. Which I promptly & totally ignore.

My mum's suggestion to this, that I find practicable enough & which seemed to help, is to make sure that your hair is always clean (so, perhaps try to wash at least every other day?).

Apart from that, I also cut my hair to mid-neck length & that seemed to slow down the loss a bit as well.
DH was totally against this, but I find that better than having a mid-back length but practically non-existent hair. :(

Yes I get it prenatal too, leaving a trail around the house, it totally changes texture when I'm pregnant, I use a hair oil called amargan which my hairdresser gets for me, you spray it in and leave it, it has helped a bit...

Yes. I had bald patches. It is now about 2 inches long where I'd lost the most...

Yes - it grows back, I don't have bald patches because I have a lot of hair but it came out in handfuls and I now have this funny little fringe about 1cm long all round my hairline....

About a month or so ago my hair decided to start growing (A was around 7m I think) and I too have a funny tufty bit at the front at the start of my parting. And sticky up short bits in my parting too. It will grow back. But if you're worried how about a tonic or something like that to give you a boost? x

Yep, grows back in fluffy frizziness around the hairline....

It gets better eventually. Mine was just back to normal and stupid frizzy fluffy bits gone when I got pregnant again....

Oh yes, frizzy hairline here too after each of the girls, just to add to the fuzziness that is my hair in its normal state. After M was born, I had a couple of bald patches too, but didn't after A - no idea why it would be any different. Who knows what'll happen this time, my hair has only just started falling out and is very minor at the moment but I expect it to get worse over the next few weeks and months.

Not supposed to be on here, but I have terrible hair loss after babies. I was advised by my very best ever hairdresser to get it trimmed as cutting stimulates hair growth.

I now have fringe because my hair is all tufty at front.

How big do your hats go?

I'm going for a cut asap, not had it done since 24weeks as after that was too big to lie back in the hair dressers chair with out being crushed by my bump and since they were born been too busy.

Sorry, kat, but hair is dead and cutting it doesnt' stimulate growth - it just makes the growth more noticeable. The hair that falls out post natally is what would have fallen out during the time we were pregnant - had we not been pregnant - hormones stop the hair falling out when it would have. Once that hair does fall out, it is thinner in places as the cycles of hair-growth, rest and shedding has been interrupted. All that hair will start to grow and come back. It is not alopecia, where the hair follicle dies and doesn't grow any more hair once the last one falls out.

Well mine started growing back when LO was about 8 mo, after I had total widows peak from bald patches at the sides. I now (LO is 11 mo) have the above mentioned frizz, with a great tuft at the front of my parting that sticks straight up and then curls over, basically a tiny quiff. Luckily I hardly have time to look in the mirror! As long as you're with other mummies nobody will care!
