RUBBISH day today, couldn't get away from the chocolate and biscuits waving at me from the shelf! Did go to the gym but after an Old El Paso taco dinner tonight, I'm still over on my calories...oh well, I'm sure the occasional blow out is healthy for you in other ways. On the plus side, I'm feeling a bit sick now so not craving any more crap!

I was the same yesterday Cofa's tree! It was my first borns birthday and there was a little lunch date with DH. I did Jillian Michaels to try and make up for it and also lots of wii games. I woke this morning with a sickly sweet taste on my tongue like I'd drank too many alcopops but it was just a sugar hangover. Definitely aiming to be better today starting with a walk with the kids to mums house (we normally drive).

My fit bit flex has just arrived and I have no friends. Is anyone on there? Why does it say I have burned 1000 calories when I have only just put it on?

It calculates all the calories you burn in a day, including what you burn just by existing. Stepping or adding additional activities adds more to your calorie burn.

I'm on there as are Marron and TurtlesMammy. You can add people who are Facebook friends by linking up with Facebook, or otherwise add using their email address. PM me your email if you'd like an add!

My facebook friends don't seem to be easy to find! It's synced with my email contacts but none of them seem to be close friends. I have added Marron and will try and pm you soon treeb!

I think I get it now. It logs my steps and works out approx how many calories I am burning from my activity and then MFP imports that data and uses that to work out if I am plus or minus my calorie goal. It's weird to go on a walk, log it with the Fitbit and then not see the asjustment come on MFP straight away but I know it will come later.

Can I tell the Fitbit app that I am doing a work out eg jillian Michaels because the only options I can see are walk/run/hike. I guess it will realise I am active anyway from my movements?

Sorry for the complete newbie Fitbit questions!

I don't do anything that you would call exercise - I just walk and cycle to get from A to B and live in a house with lots of stairs up a big hill - so I have no idea about logging exercise.

But, all the other stuff: this is what works for me. I have my activity level in MFP set to "sedentary", and have my daily calorie goal based on that at 1200kcal. As long as I don't sit on my backside all day, I get extra calories - I'm usually up around 1500 - 1800. You can set it so you can get calories taken away - that's a setting on MFP - but I would rather always have extra than have my food taken away from me if I'm having a dull day in front of the computer!

As for syncing, first I open the Fitbit app, and wait for that to finish syncing - it will say "connected" (as in connected to the Fitbit). Then open MFP, click on 'more', then 'sync' at the bottom. Wait for a bit for that to finish, go back to the diary, and the steps should match Fitbit. Or just wait for it to do it on its own!

Kleintje stayed with her Nana tonight, so DF and I went for a multi-course meal with Newt. (She didn't eat, but she doesn't get bored after two seconds at the table.)
Prawns, pizza and cheesecake will still be under my 1200 calorie limit, right?

CT, I actually love circuits classes - they're so versatile I never got bored. Burpees are the best!
I love my babies but I wish I could get away from them and go to some classes.

Hi nix! I have a fitbit too. You can log workouts on the app. The walk/run /hike options are for tracking, so it tracks you as you go along. At the top there should be a "log" option, so you can log other types of exercise. I've figured out how to log yoga. Hurrah! I'll PM you my email address and we can be fitbit pals.

Thanks TM I have added you! Unfortunately I don't seem to have a log button. I wonder if the UK app is different? Enjoyed tracking my sleep last night. I could see every time that Pippa woke me. No wonder I am always tired!

+2 this week... which was somewhat expected after massive drop last week and fairly epic collapse on Thursday revolving around a lot of cake, chocolate and work sandwiches! Thursday is always a tricky day for me as its my last work morning, traditionally a day of much stress, then it is the start of my 'weekend' so I feel the need to relax with wine and chocolate.

I ran once... I have all the excuses, from it being too dark, too cold, too wet, but the reality is I would run in those conditions before L, I'm just failing at motivation.

Goal for this week: NO Thursday collapse & 2 runs. I remember the running becomes fun at some point, I just need to reach that point again.

You can do it Rah! Drag yourself out even if you don't fancy going and it won't take you long to get back in the habit.

I am feeling so motivated. It's been the longest I've ever filled in mfp and have been under calories every day - even today after a 4yo birthday party! Have joined the gym and either been there or done a Shred at home almost every day since Thursday before last. 1.7kg down in 12 days!

Thanks for the support ladies, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be feeling this good without this thread and watchful eyes on mfp!

Well done everyone for the good days and for keeping going after the bad days. Loving all the tales of how we are making ourselves healthy, strong women. We rule!

And I wanna join the fitbit party, but can't justify it with the gym membership as well. Plus I fear it would end up buried next to the pedometer I just 'had' to have which is currently in my drawer under a pile of stuff!
