Carrying stuff while walking/running?

Postby BigFlower » 31 Mar 2014, 12:07

Afternoon all,

Just after some wisdom and product recommendations if possible please.

Doing a walking marathon sponsored walk in a few weeks (EEEK!) and will have a few bits to carry (card, cash, phone, ear phones, vaseline, spare socks). I don't want to lug a whole rucksack around with me but my fancy dress outfit for the occasion has no pockets.

What do you do?!

Thanks :)

My dh has an arm band to put his phone in, like this Maybe you can get one big enough for card/cash etc too? Or failing that, would a bumbag work?!

When I did the moonwalk 5 years ago I wore a bum bag to carry all my bits in and then had my mobile in my bra so I could hear it ;) it was actually very comfy to walk with.

Can you incorporate a bum bag into your fancy dress at all? Perhaps decorate etc?

When I did a long walk a few yrs ago I felt the same as you but in the end went with a small rucksack simply cos. realised I needed to carry food and couldn't think of any other way

BF - it's daunting before hand but honestly it's fabulous. The atmosphere is amazing and you will not believe how quickly it goes by. One thing u would say is take painkillers. I started to get a sore back from pounding pavements and a couple of ibuprofen really helped those last few miles. Also pick up 2 bottles of water when you get to a water stop - carry one each in your hand. They keep these stations replenished but not always in time for you passing.

Well done you for stepping up!!

Thank you for the tips FT, will remember those and will definitely add some painkillers to my kit.
