For all ye runners, shredders, dieters and sneaky custard creamers...

Well done on the mile, it's great having that power and stamina isn't it!

For those who love the shred, do look for bootcamps in your area, it's basically the same thing but more motivating cos of the other people and having a trainer right there. I'm a bit of a bootcamp evangelist as I did it for 8 months and it really helped me find my fitness.

Right, I took The Shred with me on holiday and did it.... once  Now I'm back, must try harder.

Can I join? I was just having a sneaky peep at this thread and have just ordered the Shred dvd from Amazon since it was cheap, and also her fat belly one.

I am not sure when I am going to be able to do it though if it involves noisy jumping around but hey ho

The belly one should be quieter though so no excuse there.

I used to love going to the gym pre children but can't afford it or have the time now. I could manage 20 non noisy minutes a day at home but we will see how much of a racket I make...

I think the noise really depends on your floor, we're parquet on concrete so it's fine. I imagine most would be ok unless it's really bouncy or creaky wood. Or you can take a laptop and do it outside if you've got any outside space?

Upstairs on carpet it's quiet enough not to wake M, 2 doors down. Downstairs on bare floorboards, wearing trainers and jumping on a yoga mat it's also quiet enough not to wake a sleeping bub upstairs. Not every circuit has jumping - some are lunges or mat work, so it's only the odd burst of 30 second bouncing now and then.

We have a Victorian house so floorboards but they are carpeted as they weren't good enough to sand. That sounds promising then.

What sort of weights and stuff do I need? If we have carpet do I need a mat or will a couple of towels suffice?

I am very excited- it should arrive tomorrow and I may have a couple of child free hours then and on Thursday before work so no excuses.

And if it means I don't have to be quite so strict on the food front so much the better :D

I don't use a mat when I'm on carpet, only downstairs to deaden the noise... Weights between 3-5lb (approx 1.4 - 2.2kg) - I use about 4(and a bit)lb (2kg) - actually, they're the handles and spinlocks from DH's weights, but they're just the right weight :)

Keep meaning to get some proper ones as these hurt my hands on one of the moves where you're doing the plank with your weights in your hands.... yeaouch.

I think I have some lady weights in the cellar so will look them out. They should be moulded at least for swinging around. I always worry the other ones might come apart at an inappropriate moment.

I hope it arrives early tomorrow when the girls are away for a bit so I can have a go :D

Ok so day one of The Shred done. Had to improvise on weights and used a can of tomatoes in each hand but this is not enough. May have to invest in some cheap hand weights. Looking forward to the lighter nights so I can get out running again.....perhaps!!??!

I have done my first Shred session this morning and was quite impressed! My legs were decidedly weak when going upstairs for a shower afterwards and I didn't notice me making too much noise jumping around so hopefully I can do it when they are in bed.

I might sit with a cup of tea and watch the belly blaster one now to suss it out.

Day 2 of The Shred completed today.
Felt a little stiff this am and sore to start routine but soon eased.
A quick question for the BLW Shredettes... how long should I do level one for.

Fothers think you deserve a cuppa now. I am just about to have one.

I didn't manage to do the Shred last night as Elsie didn't go down until 9.40pm, by which time I was incapable of doing anything more than vegging in my armchair  I will try harder tonight!

Will try harder tomorrow.

I have failed to do any Shred at all  I refuse to even consider it until I've had more than four hours sleep!
