Get fit support group anyone? Jan 2011

Postby realsLINshady » 02 Jan 2011, 09:34

ABout to go out and run. I ran two days ago for the first time in weeks - and blew my knee again. SO its back to a slow, steady 2km and build up fitness all over again. Sigh......

<starts to consider the SHred option>

{{{{{Lin}}}}} I'm so sorry, that's horrible. Have you been to any physio/osteo treatment for it? Dh has this amazing tape stuff that is the best thing for injury support - it's called Kinesio tape and it basically acts like replacement ligament etc - they use it for professional sports and it let DH play a season of cricket with shins splints! I've just tweaked the arch of my left foot and DH has been taping it up so I can still shred - probably *shouldn't* be doing as much as I'm doing but, um, oops.

Urgh, injuries are crap. Hope you recover soon. Can you find something less impacty for the time being? I just downloaded Jillian Michaels' Yoga Meltdown (yoga poses with aerobic moves - hard-frickin'-core!) to do while my foot heals and holy moley it works you out - and I'm only on level 1...

I see your half a stone and raise you another half. In the same time frame.

Pilates tomorrow and running on Wednesday.

I'm hoping the Physio will clear me to exercise next Monday. I'm desperate to get on to it but need my pelvis sorted first. The shred is waiting for me (and the fear of the Great South Run coming up in 10 months.................I've got money to raise)
So somehow it happened, my weaners are at school,
I'm still here though and people I'll try to fool,
with tales of advice giving and of wanting to know
But really here's the only place I ever want to go.

Can I join please? I need to lose 2.5 stone  & it's been a year since I gave birth so I've no excuse whatsoever.

I solemnly do pledge - here and now - that I shall go back to the gym (I have 2 months worth of free gym sessions) by the beginning of next week (I will need to contact them and arrange to restart my membership) and do a minimum of 3 sessions a week :?

I may be forced to join in properly. The size 10 skinny jeans are fine, the overspill at the top is not :( I have a wedding to go to in May and need to look gorgeous, DP is best man and Dilly is a page boy. Tell me about the Shred, is it going to rid me of my lumps and bumps?

oooh, I will search for the symbian version. I knew there was a good reason I should have gone for a Sony Ericcson not a Nokia!!

TF - that's my issue too, I have the Shred DVD but on instructions not to start yet so can't comment onit yet. It can highly recommended by Skip though :)

TF - it will get rid of all unwanted bumpage and lumpage, and give you much better strength and stamina. I'm not a runner, but I try occasionally. After about 2 months of the shred I went out one evening for a jog as I was a bit sick of jumping up and down in the spare room looking at Jillian's face - OMG my lasting power had increased to the power of 11 (as in, turn that stereo up to...). If it hadn't been so frickin cold I felt like I could have run forever, when normally I'm dying before I've made it around the block. I think what's best about is that you CAN always squeeze in 20 minutes every day, so there are no excuses ;).

....looks like another BLW inspired purchase is on the cards. Off to order this magical shiny "Shred" disk you speak of!

ok you lovely fitnessing ladies, i have a question...

...i recently have lost a bit of weight, about a stone, sensibly over a few months and am now back to pre pregnany weight which im chuffed about. However, i do have quite bad bingo wings! Im gutted really as i cant tell whether its a lost cause and its just extra skin or not! Its not scrumpled or anything but does "hang" when arms are raised. I will be really upset if there is nothing i can do about it as it makes losing the weight not really worth it. is there any hope??? More arm exercises?or are they just there forever??

Oooh the delightful bingo wings, don'tcha just love 'em? Mine went.... *can you guess what I'm gonna say?* .....not long after I started the shred. It's the tricep muscle (I think) you need to work on.

You can do dips on a chair: stand with your back to the seat and rest your arms on either side of the seat - slowly dip yourself down so you're sitting in mid air and back up again (repeat til your arms fall BURN!)

Or weight lifting: grab a weight or big bottle of water or something - raise your arms above your head close to your ears and hold the weight in both hands, slowly lower it behind you and back up again (and repeat til your arms fall off)

Ok, Shred is ordered :D This is soooo far from anything I've ever done before, I'm actually a bit scared  Will you all promise to hold my hand once it arrives?

Wooo you can do it TF!

I just ran a motherflippin' mile!!! :D Then walked/jogged another mile.

For me, that's a massive improvement from dying after getting to the end of my road not long ago.... ;)

Had to drop the car in for its MOT this morning and decided to run home - put some of DH's drum n bass on the mp3 player and pounded it! Feel pretty great. Oh, and found for working out how many calories you burn doing whatever you're doing (hee hee, check out the bottom for: "sex- moderate effort" guffaw!).
