Ingenious ways to reuse/ recycle....

I often end up throwing away things I'm sure we could reuse/ recycle, so as a kind of extension of the excellent frugality thread, I thought I'd ask you all to contribute ingenious ways that you reuse or recycle stuff. So to start you off (and apologies for repeating anything from the frugality thread...)
Mesh bags you get citrus fruit in - we wrap these round each other into a big bundle and make them into pan scourers (they are awesome at removing scrambled egg!)
Plastic tubs (e.g. the ones you get hummous in) we use for everything - storing leftovers in the fridge, picnic containers, paint pots.
And today we have upcycled some egg boxes and tissue paper into "jellyfish" - MJ is so chuffed with them - they're "swimming and landing on the seabed" as I type :D
So maybe not that ingenious, but I wanted to pick your brains... so what do you reuse?

This isn't really ingenious, but I throw my empty containers into a big bag and we use them for playing with on a wet day. Some packaging can be really interestingly shaped and we either pretend it is something or we tape bits together and make a house for her plastic animals.

Not ingenius at all, but I use empty yogurt pots for making lollies/jellies etc. Cereal packet (the plastic insides) as sandwich bags. We did have an unfortunate experience with using my husband's old pants as cleaning rags; I cleaned the floor with a pair and hung them up to dry. Much to my dismay, the cleaning session had left a dubious looking stain on the back of the pants and I'd hung them in full view of our neighbour's back door -

Toilet roll holders for seedling pots, they are really good for things with deep roots like beans.
Jam jars for tealight holders.

I invested in a smooth edge can opener and now we have lots of lovely cans for pen pots (I decorate them), for planting seeds and giving as gifts, for playing with in the sandpit, tea light holders for the garden (lovely if you punch patterns in them) and the list of uses grows daily.

That reminds me. My nephew's nursery made Xmas cakes with all the children and they had to take in a small pineapple tin with the lid cut off to make a small loose bottomed baking tin. How did they do that, I can't remember now :( . There must be something on the internet, or someone here will know.

we do most of the things akready mentioned.

we chop up old cards for ds to make handmade ones with.

At the moment i have loads of old pillows i'm trying to think of a way to reuse obv the stuffing inside has gone a bit lumpy, if i pull them apart and give it all a good fluff up i may use it for sofa cushions.
