Goodbye to nappies!

Cloth nappies, disposies, potty training... the inevitable result of BLW. What goes in, must come out.

Goodbye to nappies!

Postby Rahgamuffin » 04 Jul 2015, 16:43

Just that really, thought I'd pop back to celebrate with people who understand. L is now in (very cute) pants and has potty trained, so we're down to one (disposable) nappy at night. I can't quite believe that I won't have any more nappies to wash.

She has gone the whole way - we had to do a lot of driving yesterday and was fine in the car, is equally happy with potty or toilet and seems to have cracked communicating at nursery, which was the hardest part (although she signs 'toilet' she only says 'poooooo' for anything!).

This summer is one for growing up - L has potty trained, J is going to school (& so on a deadline for finally weaning) and B is off to juniors.

Yay! I remember reading there was a link between PT age and walking age. Was L as early as B & J with gross motor skills?

Oh yay! Also, makes me feel that we aren't mad for thinking that little croc isn't far off. She's almost 16 months but usually tells us immediately after a poo and will often sign that she's weeing. If we don't notice her sign then she goes up to the bathroom and finds the changing table and a nappy for us!

What did you do to help such a little one sort it out? Little croc loves to sit on the loo or a potty and is great at signing but we weren't sure about doing anything with it.

Mp, at that age we were putting L on the potty with every diaper change (but not pushing it when he was uninterested.) He would pee pretty consistently when on the potty but also still had wet diapers in between. By 18 months he was doing all his poos on the potty. He went into underwear when he turned 2. He was physically ready before that, but didn't want to wear it until then.

Interesting. Thanks. We do bring out the potty often and she happily sits on it but she doesn't do anything. I don't think she knows how on demand yet.

Yup, crazy early walkers all round!

MP - nothing really, except have a potty around & a bit of no nappy time.

Interesting, we have early walkers too. Didn't know it was meant to be linked.

Yes, very interesting. C was a lateish walker (18mo) and hasn't been super easy to PT at 35mo.

DD1 didn't walk until 16 months, but was PT by 20 months (apologies for bucking the trend). DD2 walked at 10.5 months, decided she wasn't going to wear nappies any more at 18 months, and now, at nearly 28 months, still has occasional daytime accidents (dry at night).

I'm interested to see what ds2 does as ds didn't walk till 17 months & didnt potty train until just after she was 3. Ds walked at 9 months & decided he was ready to potty train at 2 years 9 months, so not super early but earlier & easier than dd.

MP, squish is the same age as little croc and he does most poos on the potty and often signs to do a wee on there as well. We don't catch everything by any means but he knows and seems to be able to go on demand. All we did was put him on it when he does a poo face and he's picked up the rest.

Wow. Except my kids barely have poo faces. We never know they're pooing.
Must give this a bash.
