And we're off!

Nappy came off after breakfast this morning.

So far, we've had clingy asking for a nappy, but then she cheered up and tried on most of the (many) new pants one by one. Then a bit of playing. Tally so far: pants 2, potty 0.

Yeah! Well done courgette. Early days yet.

We're now doing pants whenever we are home after a bit of bribing with sweeties a couple of weeks back to get her on there. She'll regularly wee on there now and occasional poos but she still doesn't have a clue that she needs to go and if I don't put her on regularly, we have accidents. Stickers and prizes not really proving much incentive either but don't want to confuse her by putting her back in nappies full time either. It's never easy!

Keep us posted.

bcm, you would definitely not approve of C's choice of colour for all her new pants! Light pink, dark pink, spotty pink, stripy pink... and a pack of Peppa Pig pants to cap off the pink in all its pinky pinkness :D

Now in bed with a nappy on. Suspect she's now going to do a huge wee. At least she seems happy in pants, if not (yet) willing to stay on a potty / similar for more than three seconds, despite stickers, chocolate and iPad. Ho hum.

Well done courgette! I thought we were off with Daniel but we stalled after a sickness bug a couple of weekends ago and haven't got back on it yet

Yes well - we might have a pink rebellion on our hands Marrow. Everything she picks up in a shop is pink but I just put it back and buy the purple one instead. Ha!

Yes - iPad good. I've now replaced sweeties with ' you can watch an episode of Bing if you sit on the potty'.

That girl has some bladder control! Nappy came off after breakfast again (which is when we would normally have changed it - about 08:30). She hasn't weed since then, and is now in bed with a nappy on. Probably doing a huge wee.

On the plus side, she's now persuadable to sit on the potty for five minutes at a time, and is earning a good collection of stickers for doing so. Our breakthrough potty sitting encouragement? Let it go. Played loudly. Sort of appropriate. Let it go! Let it go! Can't hold it back any more...

When my dd was potty training she held it till about 4pm (from first thing) for the first couple of days. She was refusing to sit on the potty so those days ended in a flood sized accident!! Thankfully she got the hand of sitting on the toilet in s few days!

Thanks for posting the Marron, its really great to hear how you're getting on. We tentatively started yesterday but have stopped as she was getting distraught at the thought of sitting on the potty for some reason. So we're going to leave it a bit and come back to it as its not worth her being so upset over.

Good to know you're making progress. I hope continues to go smoothly for you.

Ooh I love these threads. I feel we're about to start, Moo has been weeing on the potty before bath for ages and occasionally when I can be bothered during the day, but we've never gone nappy free. I wanted to make sure he would poo on the potty before we tried no nappy, and daddy got him to do that today, hurrah! Slightly scared as we're living at FIL's with a very posh very cream carpet!

ETA - hope you get some wees on the potty soon Marron, but wow, I could definitely not hold it that long!

So glad this has appeared now - C still hasn't started PT - I introduced the potty ages ago, to familiarise her with it, but she has only sat on it when she was checking herself out in the mirror. Now we've moved and it's carpeted throughout and we're renting so I can't really let her go nappy free. Will just keep an eye out on here to see how you're all getting on to give me some ideas on how to help her move on :-)

Hoping this will be our path. We had a very wet nappy at the end of her nap, and then nothing more until after dinner. That mostly went on pants/floor, but I got a few drops in the potty so chocolate was duly dished out.

Courgette has had potties around for a while, and she's been happy to play with them, but she's only ever "produced" once. She wasn't very happy about sitting on it for more than a few seconds, but it was a protesty bit scared sort of cry rather than a shriek, so we went with cuddling her while she just happened yo gave her bum on it! 12 hours later and she still protests a bit, but once she's there she's happy and she's very chuffed with her sticker collection!

Two days of nursery now, and DH doing solo overnight tomorrow. So no idea what to expect!

Ali, the puppy went nuts for the first few days of potty training. He just refused to go to the loo at all. We started at his instigation so we decided to give it ten days before conceding. Within a few days he'd calmed down and would willingly sit on the loo on request.

Now, it's a whole new ball game. This kid has a concrete bladder. He barely ever needs to wee.

Good luck to all who need it! It really isn't that bad!

Bing episodes - genius plan, bigcat. I have been trying marbles in a tin (to be exchanged for a present when the tin is full) for good behaviour and for toilet time, but I don't think the reward is immediate enough and therefore no incentive. There really is something about that bunny that C LOVES. I, on the other hand, hate Flop and his endless patience and his 'It's no big thing' and his 'It's just a clumbo, Bing'. That's not even a fricking word! Grrrrr. But I seeing as I have to sit through it anyway, I may as well use it as bribery for toilet time.

Sorry to derail the thread but how can you not be seduced by the lovely Flop's voice. I could listen to him (Mark Rylance) all day with no idea of what he's actually saying!

He's just SOOOOOO patient. Makes me feel a complete failure as a parent! He's all like "You did a clumbo, it's no big thing, Bing". I'm like (quite shoutily) "Oh, for goodness' sake, C, why don't you ever listen?! You've done *insert annoying thing* and it's *insert description of resulting mess*. Gahhhh!"
STFU, Flop, you tiny weird knitted sock bunny thing.

And breathe...

Back to PT chitchat :-D
