Jazzing up fishcakes

Post them up and every so often I'll snaffle them and put them on the blog, if that's okay? It'll save you the trouble of emailing them to me. (It will mean you lose out on our charming personal interaction but I sense you can live with that.)

Jazzing up fishcakes

Postby oriel » 22 Mar 2014, 17:20

I make a batch of fishcakes each week for breakfasts: tinned salmon, mashed potato, gently fried onion and flavourings. So far flavourings have included:

Turmeric
Rosemary
Garlic and thyme

I'm going to do paprika this week. Any other ideas for things I could add?

Curry paste (or ingredients thereof) kedgeree style. Love kedgeree for breakfast. DH reckons it's a bit too 'colonial' :)

Mmmm, fishcakes for brekky. Will have to get cooking! Maybe add some cumin and coriander seed. That's what I add to everything!

I forgot to mention I also did a lemon and ginger one that worked really well.

I'd thought of Chinese 5 but wasn't sure it would work!

parmesan and mustard

lime, chilli and fresh coriander

All my fish cakes have either of those choices included

Try other fish too, eg Lidls tinned mackerel.

Thai curry paste goes well with salmon! Would your recipe work with tuna?
