Pyjamas

Sorry to come on to post a question when I've been awol of late but I know you guys know everything so this is always the place I come with question! How hard would it be to make a pair of child's pyjama bottoms by hand? I have no sewing experience (well, I made an apron at school but got told off for my poor hem) and no sewing machine. Is this an impossible task?

Not impossible, but probably not the easiest thing to do. Not sure how good you'd be able to get the seams or it would take a long time.

I have a sewing machine though & would be more than happy to run you up a pair, it wouldn't take long.

really Kanga? That's a really kind offer. Basically, I've got pyjamas that we bought on honeymoon in Alaska. I love them but after 5 years of being worn a lot they've had it. I wanted to turn the decent material from the lower legs into pyjamas for The Babs as she loves them too. What would you need - just the fabric or would I need to get a pattern too?

I have no sewing experience or skills to offer you, but just wanted to say what a sweet idea- my mum made me a dressing gown out of her old one and I really remember how thrilled I was, aged about 3 :)

That's a really good idea CG! I've got a few PJ bottoms with holes in the crotch but I'm reluctant to throw them out as they are awesome and they were fancy expensive ones! The boys would love that.

Aww that's a really sweet idea.

For my lot I usually base what I make on what already fits them. If you could make a pattern using some of her trousers that fit and this tutorial that would be really helpful. Plus I'd need her waist measurement and that should be all. I'll pm you my address if you're happy.

Kanga - looked at the tutorial and think I can manage that. Do I need special paper or could I mark it out on some brown packing paper?

They've arrived! We love them - thank you so much Kanga. :D She's wearing then now and I have a feeling we'll have a struggle to get her out of them for a party we're going to this afternoon!

Glad they got there. They're not crazy too long? Really glad you're both happy with them x

They're quite long but she's pretty tall and if I fold the waist over they're fine. It's kinda odd seeing her in them!
Thank again - much appreciated. x
