Anyone ever used a knitting machine?

Because BLW isn't just for lentil-weavers. Some of us like to piddle about with bits of felt and sticky-backed plastic as well.

Anyone ever used a knitting machine?

Postby qbm » 21 Jul 2015, 07:09

I was given a knitting machine a few years ago but it's been in the loft since then. I sort of fancy messing about with it someday when the girls are at nursery. I'm just wondering though if it's really worth it? I'm guessing they're not used now for a reason...!

Has anyone here any experience of one?

When I was a kid, at my Nans house. My Dad used to race her, she would knit a jumper by hand (she was a fast knitter) and he would use the machine. I have no idea who won :)

I actually asked my Dad a couple of years ago if he still had it but sadly he didn't.

IIRC it was quite good though.

My mum used to use one for all her knitting so I assume they can be quite useful. Then again, my grandma does all her knitting by hand (in fact I think she gave my mum the machine). Maybe it's a personal preference thing?
