Help sewing machine trouble shooting

Because BLW isn't just for lentil-weavers. Some of us like to piddle about with bits of felt and sticky-backed plastic as well.

Help sewing machine trouble shooting

I am making n a dress for her birthday next weekend and the machine won't work... It seems to be a problem with the bobin thread not catching underneath... Does anyone know a way to fix it or am I stuck with going to the repair man?

I hope this doesnt come across as patronising, but have you tried completely unthreading and rethreading the machine? Sometimes you'll discover you've missed a hook or the thread has slipped out of the notch in the bobbin. That's my usual problem anyway!

Ha ha thank you, did a bit of tinkering with doing that, taking the bobbin out, switching stitches and getting dh to have a look too, working now, no idea what fixed it but who cares, thank you for the suggestion!

Exact same thing happened to me last time I threaded my machine. Wasn't working but as far as I could tell everything was threaded through properly. Took it all out, rethreaded it, and magically it was working! No idea what the issue was the first time.
