My advent calendar & a request

Because BLW isn't just for lentil-weavers. Some of us like to piddle about with bits of felt and sticky-backed plastic as well.

My advent calendar & a request

OK so I have planned my calendar :D

I'm going to sew on to a large white tea towel 24 little pockets. I'm thinking 12 on each side - would that work do you think?

I don't have much fabric other than felt so will have to find some Christmasy scraps. If anyone has anything suitable do let me know - my pockets are going to be about 10cm squared....

I may have to go on a free sample blitz!!

I might have something, I seem to have lots of fabric, eventhough I dont sew! :D Think it is mainly plain though but you could use fabric pens on it?

And when I read you had planned your calendar, I actually thought you meant all the activities to go inside it!!

Oh I can't wait to do one this year! M was too little last year. I'll have to go back to last years threads for inspiration.

Is the idea that you put all the materials for the activity in the pocket? Or do you just write the idea down so you and the kids know what to do on a given day?

I just have a small advent calendar so I put a note saying what we are going to do each day inside, then if we need materials I store them somewhere else. It was a huge hit last year, can't wait to do it again! :D

I'm about to reorganise my fabric stash & I'm pretty sure I've got some Xmas related ones. I should be able to let you know this weekend.

Thanks! I think I might do the same and then put all the materials for a specific activity in a ziplock bag or something. That way I only have to pull out the bag each day rather than go hunting for the materials. I'm so excited!

I've got crimbo fabric that I didn't use last year, it's patch work squares 10cmx10cm . They are cottonish? All different colors with Christmas patterns, more tradional than modern iykwim.

Yours if you want them :D
