Logo Opinions Needed

Because BLW isn't just for lentil-weavers. Some of us like to piddle about with bits of felt and sticky-backed plastic as well.

I think it looks too computer generated, which turns a nice concept into something that looks a bit like clip art.
The same thing photoshopped to look hand drawn would work better and be more charming I think.

I like the cyan/blue? I don't like the purple. I liked the one in your Etsy shop. <not a stalker just bored at work>

I showed DH the one with the name on, he said it was cool (once I explained what, in fact, crocheting was). His one suggestion was to use a font that suggested yarn, something with a few curlicues or swirls like a loose thread.

Thanks for doing that! Yes! I have a rope font that looks like yarn. Totally forgot about that in my 6,000 fonts I have on my computer! (I am a font nerd!)

I kind of agree. Seeing it with the text helped though. Otherwise, I like the purple the best! (and I'm not usually a purple fan!)

I agree with Robyn. Too clipart, edges too sharp. If you can give it a more hand drawn makeover (a bit like text used in one of those examples) and a sketchy style. I actually don't think the colour is the issue.

I like the blue-y colour much better than the purple. But that's my normal colour preference for anything! If it was me I'd make the hooks silver/grey like real hooks (well, mine are lots of colours, but mainly silvery) to make it stand out more that they are hooks. I think it's got lots of potential, it just needs all the fine-tuning that makes these things take forever! But I think the concept of the logo is the hardest part. Once you know what you want there has to be a way to achieve it!

Ultimately, people are going to look at the logo for a few seconds. They will make a decision based on other parameters and how they came to see your logo is a much bigger factor in their decision-making. Referral from a friend has a much higher liklihood of purchase than a stranger seeing it in the library. Don't sink too much time into it. I prefer more contrasting colours. The purple was too dark to catch my eye as well as the lighter blue.

Thanks all. I had to send it off this morning (at 3am it went off) to the company designers, so it is now out of my hands. FWIW I sent them the top one with the second batch with a bit of grain added in. It looked fine and they have to have final approval anyway.

Thanks so much for your help though. I was totally getting worked up about it, when I should have been worked up about 4 patterns going to the printers on Monday...eeep!
